Michelle Phillips ate a banana as an act of protest during the Mamas and the Papas' performance of 'California Dreaming' on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1967, because the show required her to lip-sync instead of allowing her to perform
Hey @YouTube
I want to thank you for your efforts to get me doing things other than using your service.
Playing a third ad just after a video starts part way through, after showing two pre-rolls, is particularly inspired.
I'm about to delete the app from my phone. I won't be visiting via browser.
This site was useful and entertaining for a long time, but it's not worth being a part of this anymore.
I can be found elsewhere if you want...
We're a real outlier internationally in not having a CDC or CDC-like resource. NZ did an amazing job at responding fast to the Covid pandemic, but it was white-knuckle stuff. Next time, we need to be ready.

The 7-day rolling average of deaths attributable to COVID is 5. There was a total of 38 deaths attributed to COVID reported last week.
There is now a total of 3,502 deaths confirmed as attributable to COVID, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor.
@1goodtern It's hard to choose just one. The implication that if you're vaccinated you don't need to avoid infection or infecting others is a big one. Vaccination gave governments their excuse to wash their hands of covid, and everyone's excuse to stop masking.
I keep seeing in response to Warner Bros writing-off movies: “But talent got paid.”
Yes, but not residuals. There’s no back-end. Artists use these monies to survive between jobs.
And movies releasing make finding the next job easier. And improve quotes.
This hurts livelihoods
When the new owner took over I ceased updating the app for here on my phone. (No trust in s lack of malware.) I've begun to get notice I'll have to update... so I'll cease using this at some point.
Lots of things going away because of greed.

@Thoughtfulnz So traffic deaths from January 2020 are 1125 to midnight y'day, while Covid toll is 3464 (to y'day)l at least three times another mostly preventable toll and almost no one cares, even for themselves. Masking vanishly rare while people die needlessly.
Just a heads up, New Zealand. The daily reported cases on Tuesday were 1,745 - about double the previous week (last week Wednesday was highest day due to public holiday with 850).
Current estimate is that actual cases are 7 times that figure, or 12,215 cases. In one day. 1/😷
@gengelstein How does population density factor? New York seems likely to be quite different to Ohio for example. (Not sure which of your states have the fewest people.)
The number of people who didn't (and don't) understand the basic physics of masks working to prevent viral infections is and was always too damned high.
Mask denialism is like flat eartherism at this point: it's just denying the way the universe works.
