Wisdom Mkhwananzi, the MRP member known as Nkunzi, who made headlines in 2018 after accusing President Mnangagwa of responsibility for the deaths of his parents during Gukurahundi, has reportedly died in Russia.
He is believed to have been killed around Dec 11, 2025, shortly after completing military training and being deployed to the frontlines in Moscow’s war against Ukraine.

Parliamentary voting on the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB 3), which seeks, among other things, to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term of office, has concluded.
Zimbabwe’s National Assembly has voted 216-42 in favour of the bill. While ZANUPF did not, on its own, possess the two-thirds majority required to pass a constitutional amendment, the support of 35 captured opposition MPs enabled the ruling party to secure the necessary threshold.
The bill now proceeds to the Senate, where ZANUPF also does not independently command the required numbers. However, there are expectations that support from opposition senators aligned with the ruling party could once again provide the numbers needed for its passage.
If approved by the Senate, the bill will move a step closer to becoming law, marking one of the most consequential constitutional changes in Zimbabwe’s recent history.
Picture of The Week.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe face to face with his deputy, General Constantino Chiwenga, on Tuesday, as the two men reportedly disagreed over the constitutional amendments that would put an end to Chiwenga’s presidential ambitions and help Mnangagwa tighten his grip on power.
The proposed constitutional changes fundamentally restructure Zimbabwe’s governance framework by extending presidential terms from five to seven years, removing the direct election of the President by citizens and transferring that power to Parliament, and recalibrating the balance of executive authority in ways that consolidate power within the presidency.
Taken together, these amendments lengthen incumbency, weaken electoral accountability, reduce the frequency with which voters can remove a sitting leader, and, in practical terms, close succession pathways within ZANUPF by making presidential transitions dependent on parliamentary arithmetic rather than a national popular vote.
Money is powerful. There are some opposition leaders who will never condemn the 2030 agenda, they will not. It is bad table manners to talk when you have food in your mouth.
They will not condemn the constitutional amendments, they will keep quiet as if they have never heard of them.
