“By now, everyone knows I have obsessive compulsive disorder and #TouretteSyndrome. It hasn't been easy. But on the pitch, nobody cared. My facial tics, the coughing, none of it mattered as long as I stopped the ball from ending up in the back of my net.”
.@OFalafel, the joke landing you first place is a condition that impacts millions around the globe physically, mentally, and emotionally. While we all agree that a good laugh is welcomed, picking on a community, that is impacted more than you may realize, is not.
I wish more ppl understood & truly believed that tics are absolutely NOT a reflection of the person experiencing them. Part of the disorder is that it often specifically picks out things that are not okay to just blurt out. Please don't judge ppl with Tourette's by our tics.
New episode 2morrow. How's everyone feeling this week? I'll start. My left-eye tic (not a wink, just closing that eyelid) has shifted right. My "puff breathing" tic is pairing horribly with my asthma. Sleeping well, though! #Tourette#Tourettes#TouretteSyndrome#TourettesPod -BB
I was diagnosed with Tourettes at 14 years old. It was a difficult time for me at that age. I quickly realised I had no choice but to accept this if I was going to get better. Make friends with your demons and you will come out stronger @TourettesPod pls RT @AwareTourettes pls RT
Today after some much needed sleep I am back to normal. My tics are steady and I feel more stable in my head. This is a feeling I do not take for granted. Time to relish this feeling and have a great day. @TourettesPod@AwareTourettes#mentalhealthatwork#mentalhealth
It's so important to understand your mental health. It's not fair, but you have to embrace the cards you have been dealt and push forwards to achieve what others think is impossible. PROVE the disbelievers WRONG! @ChrisGPackham pls RT @tourettesaction Pls RT. #TimetoTalk
My young adult grandson was just approved for disability for Tourette’s and all the neuropsychiatric conditions that go with it...ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, sleep issues...grateful that he got it, but sad for him that this disorder became so debilitating.
