Just read Matt Smith's blog on a universal basic research income. I love the idea that academics could spend less time applying for money - with low odds of success - and more time doing, you know, research https://t.co/LvuAmEZZ92
Last chance to register for the Glasgow Uni Substance Use in the Contemporary World micro-credential, run by myself, @DrSGreenwood and @joycefeminista. To find out more go to: https://t.co/YS7Y4yVdo1. Funding available. #substanceuse#addiction#recovery
@mattpdawson But isn’t he just banging on about feelings and stuff?! (Spoiler: Genuinely excited to talk about this book with you when we go for lunch) x
@mattpdawson When you read the bits about not pooing on the stairs and stuff I want you to remember the time Robert ended up having to give my L1 lecture for me and reading those quotes with a straight face
@mattpdawson Matt, when have I ever said to you, “I respect your reading choices”, or “that book looks good but has a little too much about bodies in it”? This book has fart jokes!
@chellaquint@MsMenstruation It was a really fantastic thesis, a brilliant read. And lots of exciting publications in the pipeline too. Keep an eye on that @MsMenstruation - lots more to come@I suspect!
@DrSGreenwood I suspects it’s intersectional, both fat phobia and misogyny (I just couldn’t get both points in the character limit!). The diss focused primarily on fat phobia and it was AWFUL. People were treated so badly. And in eg UK you can’t go find another, less judgemental doctor :(
@DrSGreenwood I just marked a super depressing dissertation analysing tweets by women on healthcare & fatness the conclusions of which were 1) medics treated fat women’s unplanned weigh loss as unproblematically good & 2) responded to everything else with ‘just lose weight’. Misogyny sucks.
THREAD/ As we reach the end of our project, here is a selection of some briefings we published about specific issues of concern affecting marginalised groups in Scotland’s lockdown. #LeftOutLockdown
