@danny_ign @MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo Pointing out a specific aspect of a large issue does not mean that the bigger picture isn't in mind. You're simply playing at whatablutism to defect from the religious aspect at the core of this initial discussion.
@danny_ign @MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo She said already that churches should be able to prove that they are fully charities before being tax exempt. We are specifically singling out megachurches in this thread.
@danny_ign @MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo I absolutely agree with the fact that charity is far too easy to abuse. This is a larger issue that contains the religious tax exemption, but that doesn't change the fact that taxing churches should be firmly on the table. They are not mutually exclusive issues.
@MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo@danny_ign As are churches, especially megachurches which is what this thread has narrowed down on. Large scale churches are clearly for-profit ventures and if you don't see that you're blind. At this point you're losing your composure and trying to make this into a chest thumping exercise.
@MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo Oh dear, he's pulling out the "bruh." We have left intelligent response territory. The screenshot does not show anyone saying churches do nothing.
@MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo The "amount of charity" is a very important factor as it needs to amount to a specific percentage of the cash intake to qualify as a full time charity. This is basic charity tax law. The reason churches refuse to report their income is because they don't meet that threshold
@MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo I come from a midwestern evangelical household. I have lived that life across multiple states and through multiple churches. My parents were involved with church leadership and I have first hand experience with the logistics and details of mega church charity.
@MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo Don't you think, then, that they should be required to prove it? If you don't then you're just giving religion a pass for no reason. If you do then you're just here to troll.

Corporations have been doing a ton to help as well. Should we stop taxing them? What, specifically, about church charity makes it somehow worth tax exemption?
@MikeEscoSR @pooroldkilgore@elromanolo To counter the obvious "but they build homes and give to the homeless" argument, so do MOST major corporations and they do that to reduce their tax imprint. The taxes are an incentive to do charitable acts in the first place. Explain, then, why these churches should remain exempt
@JJeanmiller23 @MeowSiamese @jheartney @ESCochrane Wow, a 5 second scroll of your timeline makes this comment feel really silly. Sorry this wasn't one of YOUR conspiracy theories. 🙄🙄🙄
