DYK, in GMB women account for 70% of the agriculture workforce? Yet, their participation in leadership & decision making, their right to equal pay for equal work, access to & control over landed property & access to financial opportunities continue to be significantly hindered.
Women’s equal participation and leadership in political and public life are essential to achieving the SDGs by 2030. However, Gambian data show that women are underrepresented at all levels of decision-making. Therefore, achieving gender parity in political life is far off.

Today, we throw it back to the launch of our movement. Meet women who have not only achieved greatness in their trade but have continued to use their life and career experiences to mentor and shape the next generation of women leaders in The Gambia. @AWLNetwork
“When men and women work together, they can produce exceptional results in the workplace and even more importantly, they wind up doing the same for their personal lives and the world in general. Women benefit from working with men, and men benefit from working with women”
If you had the power to do one thing today what will it be? For us It will be for the govt. & political parties to stop giving mere lip service to women's political participation & translate their numerical strength into voice & presence on the political decision making stage.
The trajectory of The Gambia’s long-term political and socio-economic development and its ability to achieve the SDGs by 2030 will be impacted by the extent to which the entire population is empowered to contribute its ideas and women have a full and equal role to play in this.
If you had the power to do one thing today, what will it be?
For us, it will be to create and nurture an environment where #EveryGirl can thrive and become her best self. Where #EveryWoman is:
Empowered☑️
Self-reliant☑️

If we are to achieve #SustainableDevelopment, women cannot take a back seat in the advancement of their communities, families and countries. Their voices must be heard and their realities centered in development efforts.
