Summer Game Fest thoughts:
- RESIDENT EVIL CODE VERONICA - As soon as I saw the first shot I knew it was an RE Engine Game. And once the lady talked about some brother, I knew it was CV. I'm excited for it. I hope it's both first and third person gameplay again.
- Alien: Isolation 2. Another banger. It looks awesome, I think Creative Assembly will give us a generational sequel. I'm so hyped for it, it's unreal.
- Blood Message looked really nice. I'm definitely the target audience for that game. Chinese devs have been cooking with action games and this looks like it'll be another good one.
- Gen Atlas looks glorious. I'm just glad I'll be able to play another game from the creator of ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. A legendary lineup. You know it's going to be good.
- Stranger Than Heaven looks great as always. Looking forward to it. RGG kinda lost the plot with the Yakuza series and I'm looking forward to this fresh start. Snoop Dogg, Tupac, I don't really care about big celebrity names, I just hope the game is good.
- HAEX is... interesting. Need to see more of that one.
- Dead By Daylight made an announcement for another announcement. What a waste of a spot at Summer Game Fest.
- Black Flag looks nice, but I'm an old-head and I'll probably prefer the original over it. I also don't like that they seem to completely abandoned the ANIMUS subplot.
- TMNT: The Last Ronin is awesome. Amazing. Brilliant. Such a great storyline to give to such a great action game developer. No notes. Will be playing.
- Fortnite ๐ด
- Gundam: Rogue Orbit - I'll be honest, while the trailer was airing I thought to myself "this can't be Gundam, I don't remember ever seeing this model or anything that remotely looks like it." But alas, it is a new Gundam game. Exciting. I hope it's more akin to Armored Core 6 with a coherent plot and a nice campaign.
- An Eggstremely Hard Game looks so fun. I'll def play it with my buddies.
- Crossfire is one of the highlights for me. It looks awesome. I had the impression that it was going to be co-op, which would've been sick, but I'm okay with single player too. Let's hope that it has a captivating story.
- Control Resonant managed to excite me this time. I was tapped out when I saw its trailer at State of Play but something with this trailer really managed to captivate me. I'm definitely all in now. Curious to see how Remedy is going to tie it all together.
- Guild Wars 3. Definitely one of the biggest highlights of the night for me. I've been dying to get a new MMORPG announcement and I was hoping that Arena Net would announce a new game today. Here it is. I'll be playing.
- Star Wars๐ด
- End of Abyss looked interesting. Not a big fan of isometric games, but it looks cool. I'll play it.
- Last Harbor sounds like it'll be a nice co-op survival game. Something to play with buddies for sure.
- Virtua Fighter Crossroads looks phenomenal. I'm not a big fighting game guy but I always try to give them a fair shake. Looks like this one is going to have more than traditional fighting gameplay too, I like it.
- Mafia Old Country DLC looks nice. I still gotta play the actual game. I bought it and refunded it after an hour. Not because it was bad, but because I knew it was going to go in my backlog until further notice. I'll probably buy it again soon.
- 1666 Amsterdam. Now this is my jam. I like Witch stuff. I would've wanted to see more gameplay, but thematically it looks right up my alley. Looking forward to seeing more of it.
- SAW Genesis. Meh. I was excited to get a new SAW game, double so after I saw the Bloober name. But it being a 3v1 multiplayer title ruins it for me. Have fun to those who're gonna play it, but it's not for me.
- Lords of the Fallen 2 looks phenomenal. Always liked the original game. Not the biggest fan of their culture war bullshit recently but the game itself looks good. Those devs are cooking.
- Star Wars is Dune for babies ๐ด
- The Blood of Dawnwalker started with that modern day scene and I GOT SO EXCITED. I thought that was a plot twist and they were gonna allow us to play a modern day vampire too :( Looks awesome though, I'm excited for it.
- Among Us ๐ด
- 007 First Light was awesome. Good to see that they already announced new content. Curious to see if it's gonna be free content or paid DLC.
- Aion 2. Now this is a strange one because I love the original Aion, I played it so much back in the day. But it slowly turned into a terrible game due to NCSoft's questionable practices. I hope they learned a thing or two. I'll be playing for sure.
- Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance looks great. I unfortunately tapped out of Wilds after Omega absolutely filtered me out and turned me into a salty crybaby, but this is a good excuse to come back for sure.
- Swords of Legends looked boring, not gonna lie, but it has swords and Chinese mythology. I'll be playing.
- Hot Wheels was always so expensive for me as a kid so I didn't really care about it.
- Sonic Racing absolutely mogged the shit out of Hot Wheels by the way. They showed all those IPs, freaking GODZILLA, and then said "but wait, there is more" and showed NEON GENESIS EVANGELION. Absolute mogging.
- Attack on Titan 3 is I'm sure great for the die-hard fans of the show but man I wish Koei Tecmo would fund some actually good anime games with coherent campaigns.
- Clutch looks cool, Chronicles: Medieval looks gas.
- The Wolf Among Us 2 is finally getting that sequel. Also, I thought Telltale was completely shutdown. I didn't know they were operational again. Wondering how much of the original team is involved. Looks cool. I liked the first game and I like Fables.
- Stellar Blade: Blood Rain looks awesome. I enjoyed the first game a lot and this game looks like it'll be even more action packed. Would love to see some more of the plot details though.
- My girl Tifa is coming to Street Fighter 6 as the leaks suggested. You love to see it.
- And finally the new member of the FINAL FANTASY VII trilogy has a name. Revelation is certainly an interesting name. I'm curious to know what it entails. Regardless, I love everything I saw about it, especially the new job-like feature that they're adding. It's gonna make the game more replayable. Excited for Spring 2027. I hope it doesn't get delayed.
Overall, really good show. One of, if not the best Summer Game Fest yet. I'm sad that we couldn't see Kingdom Hearts 4, Persona 6, or a new From Software game, but those were high expectations anyway. I'm happy with what I saw.
Good stuff.
Loved Silent Hill, LOST, or Alien Isolation?
Solace Creek blends all three.
PSX horror. No combat. Pure dread.
