@JohnCornyn I am embarrassed by your vote today, Sen. Cornyn. What argument were you listening to? What discerning thoughts did you have on the issue of constitutionality of this proceeding? Your vote today is a lie. I know you know better.
The history I learned in my American education is a narrative of white supremacy. Re-learning U.S. history right now, with urgency. I’ve been duped by institutional racism. #1619Project#stamped#openveins#leguizamoformorons
My next stop is the 1619 Project: https://t.co/iYipJl4wTh
This is one of the most beautiful narratives that I have ever heard about our complicated American history. Full of optimism. I must know more.
Do Justice. Walk Humbly.
As a White person, not particularly “religious,” this captures my heart, my combination of commitment to action and honor of my Black brothers’ and sisters’ and children’s and elders’ voices, not only now but forever.
What about when my Black students teach me (their white math teacher) an AAVE phrase, work to correct my pronunciation, then cue me for delivery at some appropriate moment in the classroom? The absurdity is hilarious, feels joyful & connected. Thoughts?
Shout out to Huston-Tillotson University who taught me, and gave me this great opportunity, to be a teacher at Gus Garcia Young Men’s Leadership Academy!
