I've seen so many posts of Zutaras doing genuine mental gymnastics just to claim that 2/3 of Aang's kids are actually Zuko's, or that the producer forced the animators to make Kataang canon when they "were under the belief Zutara was the endgame", is amazing in a bad way

He wanted Katara to "forgive" him like rest and fast; the consequences that killing could have on Katara didn't matter to him as much as getting the last person left on the team to be "okay" with him.
