A National Trust building operated as local history museum. Our museum is solely funded through donations. Open Tuesday to Sunday 13:00 to 16:00 until 31/10.
These Jackdaws love scurrying across the medieval timber frames of the museum.
Sometimes they can be spotted peering through the windows to take a look at some of our historical treasures.

At one time the museum was an Inn called the Kings Head. A sculpture of a kings head acted as its sign. This is now preserved within our museum. You can see the replica attached to the exterior where it once would have been.

Artefacts behind the scenes Pt.2
These collections showcase examples of Roman grey, red and samian ware. Some are pierced, and could possibly have been used for straining. If you look closely, you can see traces of exterior markings.

Artefacts behind the scenes Pt.1
We hold a wide range of artefacts in our collection that are not currently on display.
These three specimens are examples of some that were discovered during the Winthill excavations of 1954-6, in Banwell, Somerset.
Here at Axbridge Museum, our Collections & Exhibitions team are planning a celebration of the 80th Anniversary of end of WWII. If anyone in town has material to exhibit or an interest in this period. Please reach out to us at [email protected].
Photographic exhibition and collected audio memoirs of this local place of worship have been collected by the Axe Valley Men’s Shed Photographic Group. This has been created in conjunction with members of the local congregation following it’s closure in the summer of 2024.
