Provide Adequate Transport Fare For Your Children Going To Orientation Camp To Avoid Exposing Them To D@ngers — NYSC Boss Olakunle Nafiu tells parents
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Olakunle Nafiu, has advised parents and guardians to provide adequate transport fare for prospective corps members travelling to orientation camps across Nigeria, warning that insufficient funds can expose them to avoidable d@ngers.
Speaking at a forum organised by the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, he said: “It is better for parents and guardians to provide extra transport money for their children to break journeys safely than expose themselves to d@nger.”
He explained that some corps members exhaust their transport fare on long journeys and refuse to stop over even when travel conditions become unsafe. According to him, this exposes them to risks such as kid+apping and other d@ngers associated with night travel.
He added: “such decisions expose them to security risks, including kid+apping and other d@ngers associated with travelling at night.”
Nafiu further advised corps members to begin preparations immediately after receiving their call-up numbers and avoid last-minute movement that could compromise safety. He warned:
“We tell them not to travel after 6 pm Once it is getting late, they should break their journey and continue the next day.”
He noted that the NYSC has strengthened collaboration with security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the military, to provide escorts, patrols, and intelligence support along travel routes to ensure safer passage to orientation camps.
He also cautioned against fra¥dsters claiming influence over postings, stressing that deployment is automatically generated through an established system.
He added that only legally married women and corps members with verified medical conditions are considered for special postings closer to families or health facilities.

President Tinubu Signs Electoral Act Amendment Bill Into Law, Calls for Stronger Safeguards Against Glitches, Hacking
President Bola Tinubu has signed the Electoral Act, 2022 (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2026 into law, following its passage by the National Assembly after months of deliberations.
The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday at the State House in the presence of key government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila.
Speaking at the event, Tinubu emphasized the need to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system to prevent technical glitches and unnecessary hacking. He noted that credible elections are essential to sustaining democracy and fostering national development.
The President stressed that democracy thrives on solid discussions and collective commitment to nation-building, adding that Nigerians must have confidence in the electoral process.
“It’s not as important as the historical aspects of this. What is crucial is that you manage the process to the extent that there will be no confusion, no disenfranchisement of Nigerians, and that we are all going to see democracy flourish,” he said.
I won't end this year pretending everything was fine. I lost a piece of myself this year that I will never get back, and I'm not forcing a smile as if it didn't change me. So no, I won't be saying “2026 is going to be my year”. I'll be praying that I recover next year, that my heart never has to break like this again, that I never have to survive something like this again. I'll be hoping for peace. Real peace, the kind that lets me breathe without fighting for it. I deserve a year that doesn't hurt.
🚨 Earlier today, Marcus Rashford completed his first charity project in Barcelona.
• He has led major social initiatives in the UK, and now joined the Barça Foundation
• He visited a school to support programs for vulnerable children
• He gave a speech to their class, took the time to know them personally, then went out and played some sports with them
• Rashford did not have an easy childhood, so he has focused on making the lives of children better ❤️
