Met my very fine catch while he was still in medical school. Boy was brilliant, broke, and ridiculously inundated with school. A great date was hot dogs over a campfire and a bottle of Boones strawberry wine. Maybe preceded by a bit of target shooting off some logging road if we could afford the shells. He opened the doors, but I can open my own damn door and help fix his beater car in the yard and make a pretty decent meal on a tight budget. When we went out to dinner once or twice a year we would split the cheapest thing on the menu.
Over 30 years later and those days are good story. Date to marry. Take the long view. Sometimes you find your prince by NOT being a damn princess.
