I just don’t think it’s society’s responsibility though, it’s on the individual. Plenty of people do or should be able to not adopt attitudes from dramatized and exaggerated contexts like this. They should be able to tell the difference between fiction and reality.

To wrap this up then; I’ll just say that my standards are that anime characters are heavily stylized with narrative context and considerations that can separate them from depictions of children. I personally look for mature behaviors, but am open minded toward other people.

@violetabcdefg @colyinc_PR into it’s own thing. Responses ranged from disturbing apathetic to ‘I find this repulsive’ sort of comments. I will give you that loli does have disgusting origins though. I just believe terms and their histories can change over time like ‘gay’ or ‘dyke’ has.

Magazines with CSAM were legalized in Japan apparently at the time, so a bunch of magazines had a mix of CSAM and loli content in them. That was until enough fans of loli rejected it to where it split off…

@carcosaslostart Free speech for privately owned platforms is optional. You are relatively free from government persecution, but if a private platform doesn’t want to air what you like, you can move to another one. Doesn’t protect you from being shamed either.

A lot of it is this image of maturity and superiority that Asuka is projecting onto herself because of various coping mechanisms she has. She has abandonment issues to put it mildly.

I am repulsed by photorealistic styles in that sense as well because even though it’s fiction, it is undoubtedly the depiction of a child at that point.

I just hold myself to higher standards. Still quite off-putting but not at the age where it affects reality…
