@JustinF1re@needGod_net Yes salvation requires works, not as a means of meriting you entry into heaven, but as a means of abiding in the Christ and the grace he offers through his atonement for our sins. Maybe look up the dictionary definition of "require" and that will help with your confusion.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net Your inability to comprehend has caused you to continuously misrepresent the orthodox and catholic position. There is no word game. Only you trying to tell me what I am saying rather than arguing against whats actually being presented.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net One speaks of requirements WITHOUT the atonement (legal perfection). The other is WITH it (loving cooperation). Works don't buy heaven, but Christ explicitly says they are REQUIRED to remain on the Vine (Jn 15:10). If you choose unrepentant sin, you close the valve and wither.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net Yet another strawman. Like I said before catholic and orthodox don't believe works "cause" or "earn" or own salvation. Or that salvation is strictly based on our own merit.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net You're confusing Moses's law with Christ's commands. You're also assuming "required" means "perfect." That's a false dilemma. He requires faithful cooperation, not flawless perfection. But works ARE a requirement to remain. Those who don't bear them are cut off (Jn 15:2)
@JustinF1re@needGod_net You're confusing earning with cooperating. Works don't buy salvation, but Jesus explicitly says they are required at final judgment. In Matt 25:41-46, He sends people to hell strictly because they failed to do good works. If works aren't required, Matt 25 is a lie.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net No catholic or Orthodox believes works "earn" salvation. That's a strawman. If works ceasing causes you to give up salvation, then it is faith AND works of faith that justify you before God not "faith alone". Faith alone is dead as James clearly says.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net You have the timeline backwards. In John 15:10, Jesus completely inverts your claim: "IF you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love." Keeping commandments (works) is the literal condition to remain in His love. It's an active choice, not just an automatic byproduct.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net Matt12:33 says “Make a tree good (inner quality) and its fruit will be good (visible action).. for a tree is RECOGNIZED by its fruit.” You can't recognize an invisible feeling. Two verses later,Jesus defines this fruit as an express action, the words you speak. Christ defines it.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net Christ makes it clear that Living branches that are "IN HIM" are cast away, wither and then are thrown in the fire for not "bearing fruit"(works). So works are what make your faith living. Without them your faith is dead. As good as apostacy.
@JustinF1re@needGod_net I explained the difference between the scripture Needgod used, with what the man in the video is saying. NeedGod referenced a verse about present tense confidence. But the man in the video believes salvation can be lost so hes speaking about knowledge of if you will remain saved.
