Seven kilometers.
That's the distance between Brazzaville and Kinshasa, two capital cities, facing each other across the Congo River. Here in Kampala terms, that's like walking from City Square to Nakawa. Nothing. On a good day, with a full stomach, I could walk it. With the right motivation, I could run it, at a steady pace, without stopping.
But try actually to make that journey, and here's what you're up against: no road connects them. You need a flight. And before any of that, you need a visa, one that can take weeks, sometimes a full month, to process.
Seven kilometers. One river. Two countries. A month of paperwork.
Africans, who are we?
The book of Hosea is about the pain of a God who is so deeply in love, but always the second or third choice of the object of His affection.
And yet it’s a book of Hope.
Gods love for you will triumph.
He will wear you down.
His love for you is so much greater than your sin, your pride, your anger and fear.
If today you are struggling with frustration at you and your inability to chose Him daily, then change your focus.
Look less at your lack of love for Him and rejoice in the purity, depth, intensity and unconquerable nature of His love for you.

Two years ago I started the 54 Day Rosary Novena to explicitly ask for my husband
I picked completely random dates i.e I wasn't aiming for it to end on a specific feast day or anything
It starts with 27 days of "petitioning" for something, and the next 27 days "thanking" Mary for granting your petition whether she did or not
I wanted to make things easier for myself so I lined up the latter 27 days to match up with the calendar date. August was a bit chaotic, but September 1st was the first day of the "thanking" part of the novena
So Day 1 = Sept 1st, Day 2 = Sept 2nd etc. etc.
That helped me not go crazy lol
You'll never guess what happened on Sept 27th. Aka the last day of the novena.
My now-husband booked a trip and flew halfway across the country to take me on a first date
We're now married and I'm 5 months pregnant
Mother Mary really comes through when you need her
Dr. Muhammad Mashali, lovingly known across Egypt as “The Doctor of the Poor,” never owned a car or a cellphone. He lived without luxury, but spent over 50 years quietly healing thousands of lives.
Every day, he walked the streets of Tanta in Egypt’s Nile Delta to his modest clinic, where patients, rich or poor, were always welcome. Many paid nothing. Some days he treated 40 to 50 people, often covering the cost of their medicine himself.
After graduating with honors in 1967, he made a solemn vow: he would never turn away anyone who couldn’t afford treatment, a promise inspired by watching his father sacrifice everything for his education.
“My reward is not money,” he once said, “it’s the smile of someone whose suffering has ended.”
When a wealthy businessman once gifted him $20,000, a car, and an apartment, Dr. Mashali sold it all and used every penny to buy medical equipment for his patients.
He treated everyone with equal dignity, regardless of religion, status, or background. For more than ten hours a day, he offered not just medicine, but compassion and hope.
Dr. Muhammad Mashali passed away in 2020 at the age of 76, leaving behind no wealth, no grand possessions, only a profound legacy of kindness.
We need to humanize the struggle. Look at these political prisoners as our brothers and sisters like each of us are, not as Besigye’s aide, Bobi’s foot-soldiers. Because then we see them as something else - Kemitooma
How evil can someone be 😢
A pregnant Christian woman who is held captive in Nigeria gave birth to her baby in captivity .
Then they turned as around a fed that precious angels small body to dogs💔
Then an elderly Christian man somebody our grandfather's age was stripped NAKED tied to a tree 🌴 and a burning gallon (liquid fuel) dripped and burned his head until he died
This was done in the name religion?!
I can't imagine because my God doesn't teach us to do these things muchless ignore when they are being done to our brothers and sisters 🔥.

MUGUMYA LEFT EXILE FOR TORTURE AT HOME
The horrific video and photos of an emaciated, immobile and visibly suffering Sam Mugumya @SamMugumya haunted and demoralised me for days. You see, I feel a special affinity and closeness to him. Unlike many of his sympathisers, I share some unique life experiences with Mugumya Sam.
1. Both of us studied for our first degrees at @Makerere University. We are Makerereans. We are among the educated population of Ugandans.
2. Both of us were active card-carrying members of Uganda’s opposition political party called Forum for Democratic Change @FDCOfficial1 . We are among the engaged political actors in our country who were apprenticed into defiance by Dr. Kizza Besigye.
3. Both of us were successful candidates in party primaries. Thereafter, we were nominated as flag bearers for our political party in the national elections, and contested in Uganda’s electoral processes for the position of Member of Parliament. Although there are many active members of political parties, very few participate in party primaries. Fewer still, have the balls to run for political office in the national elections.
4. Both of us were political prisoners who were imprisoned multiple times in Uganda’s maximum-security prison. Unlike several detained political prisoners, Sam and I are among the few who experienced a sentence following conviction for trumped up charges.
5. Both of us fled to exile and became asylum seekers in different African countries. The life of an African asylum seeker in another African country is unique in its precarities and possibilities.
6. Both of us are published poets with books of poetry. While there are many poets in Uganda, the vast majority have never published a collection of poems. Also, while there are many Ugandan authors, most do not write poetry. And so, Sam and I are among Uganda’s few published poets.
7. Both of us combine street protests with online activism, community engagement with digital organising, and action with articulation. We walk the talk. We bite and bark. We do what we say.
But this is as far as our similarities go. While Sam is a Mukiga Roman Catholic unmarried man, I am a Muganda Protestant single mum of three children. While Sam studied Political Science at Makerere University, I studied Mass Communication and Literature. While Sam was imprisoned for eight years in a foreign prison called Ndolo Military Prison in Zaire, I have only been imprisoned in Uganda (so far). While Sam left the FDC and joined the Patriotic Front for Freedom (PFF) @PFFUganda , I remained in the FDC. We are different in many other ways.
The biggest difference between Sam Mugumya and myself is that he chose to return to Uganda from exile, but I am afraid to return to Uganda. When Sam returned to Uganda, I spoke with other exiled Ugandans about his courage and bravery despite knowing the escalating danger back home in Uganda.
Sam Mugumya’s heart ached for his ageing mother.
Shortly, after he returned home from exile, Sam was abducted by men in a drone who sped off to an unknown location on 26th August 2025. He joined the long list of abducted Ugandans subjected to enforced disappearances. Although his lawyers filed habeus corpus applications, both the Uganda Police Force @PoliceUg and Uganda People’s Defense Forces @MODVA_UPDF army denied knowing his whereabouts. This month will mark one year of Sam Mugumya’s enforced disappearance…
For me, as a Ugandan refugee living in exile, the terrible experiences of Sam Mugumya shortly after he returned home from exile make it extremely difficult for me to return to Uganda soon. I miss Uganda dearly. However, I am not willing to return to be abducted and tortured again. In this regard, Sam is more trusting and courageous than I am. Sam Mugumya abandoned exile and went back home to Uganda to be tortured and dehumanised.
