The main ingredient of Bio Oil is mineral oil. Which is something you can get for super cheap at CVS or Target. (Like a whole bottle for $3.) This creates an occlusive layer which promotes healing. You can do this BETTER with petroleum jelly or silicone. This is better when the stretch marks are fresh and red.

However when it comes to treating older stretch marks or acne marks, retinol will give better results. For brightening dark marks, I also recommend ingredients like kojic acid, arbutin, & niacinamide.
