Every time I have a debate like this with someone, they always assure me (as Tate does above) that my wife is going to divorce me and take my kids and my house etc. That’s because their argument depends on the assumption that a happy and lifelong monogamous marriage is somehow impossible (even though it’s been done by billions of people through history).

Sorry to disappoint these guys, but we’re nearly a decade and a half into this and we’re happier than we’ve ever been. Marriage only gets better with time. That’s our experience. And if you’re someone who likes to talk about the “divorce rate,” well statistically the vast majority of couples who are married for 15 years will remain married until they die. That’s because monogamous lifelong marriage is not some kind of far fetched fairy tale. It’s real. I’m living it.
