Lahore to host a free book festival on 4-5 July
The idea is to get together people with the books they have read and exchange them for books they’d like to read from others
I am trying to posthumously publish my mother’s novel محبت کا الجھا ریشم which is an ode to #Lahore, the city of love. I am so much in awe of this scene about Miani Sahib and the spectacles of devotion around it.

@ShabnamSyedKha2 When it comes to attire, I love the paintings by Edwin Lord Weeks. But of course there is an orientalist angle to that.

Today marks the 3rd year of the Sudan civil war and genocide.
Tens of thousands have been killed. Hundreds of thousands have starved. Millions have been displaced.
The UAE and arms dealers to the RSF and RSF-aligned militias must be held accountable.
@DaimFazil@MehlaqaCAPJ especially given the fact that in March people protesting the attack on Iran were shot point blank both by US guards (or marines) and by Pakistani law enforcement
Pakistan's shuttle diplomacy to ease tensions between Iran and the United States comes at a critical moment. Any effort to prevent escalation and broker peace is welcome.
Yet for Pakistan’s current leadership, this diplomatic activism serves another, more domestic purpose: it offers a much-needed lifeline to generate external legitimacy at a time when a large majority of Pakistanis view them as corrupt, illegitimate, and increasingly authoritarian.
If only the Pakistani regime had invested the same amount of time in building strong institutions, addressing electricity shortfalls, creating a favorable investment climate, and generating honest tax revenues, Pakistan would be far better off today, instead of desperately looking for foreign dole-outs and bailouts.
Instead, unfortunately for the people of Pakistan, it has invested far more energy in locking up political prisoners, persecuting pro-democracy activists, undermining civilian institutions, and similar repressive measures. It doesn’t matter how many shuttle missions it undertakes, that sad reality remains.
The Gaza ceasefire brokered by Donald Trump has effectively collapsed for weeks. Israel is escalating killings and airstrikes against civilians—just moments ago, five people were killed in Al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City.
