During Pre-COP31 in Fiji and Tuvalu, @Mukhtar_Babayev held bilateral meetings with representatives of Fiji, Türkiye, Brazil, Singapore, the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Tonga, Barbados, and Antigua and Barbuda, as well as UN leadership and the UNFCCC. The meetings focused on strengthening international cooperation and advancing global climate action ahead of #COP31.
Held bilateral meetings with colleagues from Fiji, Türkiye, Brazil, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Tonga, Barbados, and Antigua and Barbuda, as well as UN leadership and the UNFCCC during Pre-COP31 in Fiji and Tuvalu.
Our exchanges focused on climate priorities and strengthening cooperation on the road to Antalya. Sustained dialogue, continuity across COP Presidencies and solidarity with climate-vulnerable countries remain essential to building trust and advancing implementation.
We look forward to working together towards a successful #COP31 that builds on previous achievements and delivers meaningful progress for people and communities.
At #PreCOP31 in Fiji, as part of the COP Presidencies Troika together with COP30 and #COP31, we provided an update on the Belem Mission to 1.5 and our collective work to keep 1.5°C within reach.
Throughout the year, our broad and inclusive consultations with Parties and stakeholders have brought forward a wide range of perspectives on the challenges to implementation and how they can be addressed, while reflecting different national circumstances and pathways.
As we finalize the Belem Mission to 1.5 report, our focus is on practical solutions that can overcome barriers to implementation, strengthen the means of implementation and international cooperation, and help turn climate commitments into delivery.
Today, a father and his son have been severely maimed in landmine explosion in Jabrayil district, bringing the number of landmine victims in #Azerbaijan to 4️⃣4️⃣3️⃣ since the end of the 2020-war.
This horrific incident once again demonstrates the deadly and indiscriminate threat posed by landmines, which continue to claim innocent lives and inflict devastating injuries.
Azerbaijan strongly condemns the continued danger posed by landmines and calls for greater international attention for mine action in Azerbaijan.
It was a pleasure to meet with Ms. Lynda Tabuya, Fiji’s Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change, during #PreCOP31.
We discussed Azerbaijan’s solidarity with #SIDS, the importance of keeping their priorities high on the global climate agenda, and opportunities for practical cooperation and joint initiatives with Fiji, including at #COP31.
My sincere appreciation to Minister Tabuya and the people of Fiji for the exceptional hospitality, attention and warm Pacific spirit extended to our delegation throughout our visit.
President Ilham Aliyev addressed the participants of the 4th International Conference in the Baku Dialogue Format on “Strengthening Trust and Developing Effective Mechanisms for Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons”.

Pleased to participate and address the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Awaza during my working visit to Turkmenistan.
We focused on expanding our mutually beneficial trade, economic, and humanitarian cooperation amidst growing global turbulence, emphasizing strict adherence to international law as the foundation of regional stability.
I highlighted Azerbaijan’s contributions to regional connectivity through our large-scale investments in port and railway modernization, consistently driving the capacity and resilience of the East-West and North-South transport corridors.
We remain fully committed to translating our multilateral partnerships into tangible economic growth, reliable transit networks, and long-term security for our peoples.

Honoured to deliver the message of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the #PreCOP31 Leaders’ Event in Fiji.
The President’s message reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s strong solidarity with Small Island Developing States, emphasizing that despite the distance between us, we are united by a common determination to build climate resilience and ensure that the priorities of SIDS remain high on the global climate agenda. It also highlighted the importance of carrying forward the legacy of #COP29 and maintaining momentum towards a successful #COP31.
Convening this gathering in Fiji and Tuvalu brings the international community directly to the frontlines of the climate crisis, where climate change is not a distant challenge, but a daily reality and, for countries such as Tuvalu, an existential threat.
The Azerbaijani delegation, headed by H.E. Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues and #COP29 President, will participate in the Pre-COP31 meetings in #Fiji and #Tuvalu.
Azerbaijan reaffirms its strong support for Small Island Developing States (#SIDS) and their efforts to address the growing impacts of climate change.

The #COP29 Presidency is in Fiji and Tuvalu to participate in the Pre-COP31 meetings and witness firsthand the realities of climate change faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
For these countries, climate change is not a distant threat. Rising sea levels, extreme weather and growing pressures on communities, livelihoods and ecosystems are already putting their future at risk.
Supporting #SIDS and addressing their particular vulnerabilities have been important priorities of the #COP29 Presidency.
We must continue to stand in solidarity with them, ensure their concerns remain central to the global climate agenda, and strengthen collective action, climate finance and resilience to address the existential threats they face.

Siyasətdə emosiyalara yer yoxdur. Biz emosiyalara qapılsaydıq, bu gün, yəqin ki, üçüncü Zəfər Tağı İrəvanın mərkəzində ucaldılardı.
