@Nozushii One thing I would check is are you truly taking advantage of your plus frames and/or safely moving around your safe minus frames. Let's say you are minus -1 when you hit your low, but you have a privileged SS/SW, you can try and maneuver and see if they jab or block.
@Zalaphrax One of the best examples of this is tekken. You can literally just play with simple pokes and win matches off of that. More often than not, an opponent scrambles when they realize they are at 50% HP just from non-combo damage, and eat a nasty counter-hit combo afterward.
@RyanHeapski There's a reason why we FG players say 'just block.' It's the only real option to make sure we have some chance to not get blended into a mix and possibly return to neutral.
@COMMONSENSE8_ We also have to account for the fact there are so many different types of controllers (normal DPads, leverless, stick, etc.). When training to get good, a controller almost becomes part of your identity, which also adds on to the entry level floor.
Just playing another match is not going to result in improvement, unless you're constantly trying to reflect as you play. This is no different per competitive game genre, and no matter the game, there will be some practice outside of playing that will be involved (i.e., aimlabs).
you spend your time learning how to play League by queuing another match. you spend your time learning how to play Valorant by queueing another match. you spend your time learning how to play SF6 by... hitting the lab. that's what makes FGs so unapproachable.
idk who needs to hear this but you can play fighting games at a well above average level without labbing.
It's strongly advised to practice your character's bnb and combos in training mode initially before playing in a match but that's pretty much it.
@_orrenji How long are you blocking, doing ss/sw, throw breaks, and not getting CH'd? I have similar stats, and the defense goes up the less I press and just block. Not only that, I eat a lot of lows, so I don't think that's a primary factor for lower defense.
@YINCRESCENT_tkn I'm hesitant to say she is strong right now, because unless the player I face is better, she's not that scary to deal with. Weak to turtling, and trying to call out pressing or duck attempts leave her at unsafe frames.
Friends! I am planning on going to my first major for @CEOGaming and planning on competing for Tekken! Could anyone provide general advice on how to navigate the venue and game station etiquette?
Truly an era. One of my fondest memories was being lost in a Walmart when my parents were shopping, and was playing on the sample GameCube games. I made a few friends this way.
@PlayStation For the people saying that PC/Steam gamers are already playing digitally, why would this be any different?
Because PC gamers have multiple store options linked to a main service (steam/epic), preservation through emulation, modding, etc.
@PlayStation this is not the way.
