Azercosmos participated in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Development Forum for Africa 2026, held in Zimbabwe. 🌍
🛰️ The forum served as an important platform for discussing digital transformation in the African region, the development of telecommunications infrastructure, the application of satellite technologies, and opportunities for international cooperation.
Azercosmos highlighted the importance of satellite communications and space services in advancing the digital ecosystem, and presented information about its ongoing projects and collaboration opportunities in the African region.
#Azercosmos has signed a cooperation agreement with “Tojikzaminsoz”, one of the leading state design institutes of the Republic of Tajikistan. 🤝✒️
According to the agreement, map updates in Tajikistan will be carried out based on satellite imagery processed by Azercosmos. Within the framework of the project, the use of modern geoinformation technologies is planned to update territorial data and improve mapping processes.
It should be noted that “Tojikzaminsoz” (State Design Institute for Land Management) operates under the Committee for Land Management and Geodesy of the Republic of Tajikistan and is one of the country’s main specialized scientific and design institutions. The institute is considered a key organization in Tajikistan in the fields of land management, geodesy, and cartography.

Azercosmos held a meeting with the U.S. company Vantor. 🇦🇿🇺🇸
During the meeting, the parties discussed the application possibilities of satellite technologies in urban planning and real estate sectors. They also focused on prospects for international cooperation beyond Azerbaijan’s borders and the potential to provide these services in other countries.
📌 It should be noted that Vantor is a U.S.-based technology company specializing in the collection and analysis of satellite data and its applications across various fields — particularly defense, intelligence, urban planning, infrastructure, and property valuation.

Today is Africa Day! 🌍
As Azercosmos, we continue to expand our partnerships with African countries by supporting sustainable development, innovation, and international cooperation through space technologies.

A meeting was held at Azercosmos with Seizo Onoe, Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) of the International Telecommunication Union @ITU ).
🌐 During the meeting, the parties held extensive discussions on the standardization activities of the ITU, the “AI for Good Summit” initiative, as well as Azercosmos’ proactive role in ITU initiatives and potential areas of cooperation.
It should be noted that the AI for Good Global Summit was launched in 2017 by the International Telecommunication Union. The platform is co-organized with the Swiss Government and operates in partnership with UN agencies. The main mission of the summit is to identify and promote innovative applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in solving global challenges.

The opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (#WUF13), hosted by Azerbaijan this year, was broadcast live via the Azerspace-1 satellite 🛰️
As part of the internationally organized event, foreign TV channels also received the broadcast through the Azerspace-1 satellite. The opening ceremony was delivered to a wide audience across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
🌏 It should also be noted that satellite internet will be used as a backup communication solution throughout the event.
Azercosmos presented its solutions and vision during an info session held as part of the World Urban Forum 13. 🛰️

Azercosmos has launched its first National Space Incubation project! 🚀
The National Space Incubation program is an intensive initiative designed to support early-stage space startup ideas in the fields of Earth Observation applications and digital platforms, helping them evolve into market-ready products. As part of the project, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency and SABAH.HUB Innovation Center are participating as ecosystem community partners.
🧩 Within this 6-month program, 8 teams will participate in both technical and commercial training focused on digital solutions in the space sector, while also working on their startup ideas with the support of assigned local and international mentors.

Today marks the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.
During the period of his leadership, the foundations of Azerbaijan’s space industry, along with many other sectors of the country, began to take shape through his visionary policy and strategic approach.
In 1973, upon his initiative and with his special attention, the 24th International Astronautical Congress of the was successfully held in Baku at a high level. It is a source of pride that, 50 years later, in 2023, this prestigious event was once again hosted in our country, further strengthening Azerbaijan’s position in the international space arena.
Today, as Azercosmos, we continue the space legacy founded by the Great Leader and further reinforce Azerbaijan’s place within the global space ecosystem.
Azercosmos has joined the international DIFI (Digital Intermediate Frequency Interoperability) Consortium. 🌍
Azercosmos’s membership in the consortium will provide the organization with opportunities to participate in technical working groups, contribute to the development of industry standards, and further expand international cooperation within the global satellite communications ecosystem. The membership is also significant in terms of creating new commercial opportunities, gaining access to professional training, and implementing software solutions and regulatory approaches that comply with international standards in this field.
🚀 It should also be noted that Azercosmos is an active member of the (WTA), (ISNET), (GSOA), (IAF), and other international organizations.
Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong, along with several senior representatives of the organization, visited the Main Satellite Ground Control Center of Azercosmos. 🛰️📡
During the visit, the guests were provided with detailed information about Azerbaijan’s modern space infrastructure, satellite control capabilities, as well as Azercosmos’ activities in the fields of telecommunications and Earth Observation.
🌐 The meeting also included an exchange of views on the contributions of space technologies to digital transformation, sustainable development, and the expansion of international cooperation.
A cooperation agreement on the use of satellite capacity was signed between Turkish satellite communication solutions provider PROFEN and Azercosmos within the framework of the SAHA Expo. 🇦🇿🤝🇹🇷
Under the agreement, PROFEN plans to provide satellite communication services across Türkiye, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa by utilizing the capabilities of the Azerspace-1 and Azerspace-2 satellites. The cooperation also covers mobile communications, including In-Flight Connectivity services and satellite connectivity for the maritime sector.
📌 It should be noted that the purpose of this cooperation is to deliver more flexible and reliable solutions to meet the growing internet and communication demands across the region.
