America mourns the service members killed by terrorists in Afghanistan today.
The 2400+ troops killed in last 20 years were on a mission, including during my combat tours.
Never once did we allow terrorists to stop a mission.
We must finish the evacuation.
@EvanMilla My parents did just that during the Russian occupation and here I am! Blaming the Afghan people is a coward move! Poor execution is an understatement! #prayforafghanistan
Nobel peace laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen in 2012, says countries need to open their borders to Afghan refugees https://t.co/Fi4zRx8uQo
Don't forget "saving Afghan women" was a justification for the US War on Terror. It was used by both the right and some on the left. Remember those women now. We can help them by accepting and supporting refugees and Afghan communities.
New fighting in Afghanistan has forced almost 300,000 people to flee their homes since the start of the year.

We represent an Afghani immigrant visa applicant who, today, is burning the documents associated with his family’s US visa applications in preparation for rule under Taliban. There are no words for this.
“We do not count because we were born in Afghanistan . . . We’ll die slowly in history.” I am heartbroken. The women & girls of Afghanistan have been abandoned. What of their dreams, hopes? The rights they have fought two decades for? #PrayforAfghanistan
We watch in complete shock as Taliban takes control of Afghanistan. I am deeply worried about women, minorities and human rights advocates. Global, regional and local powers must call for an immediate ceasefire, provide urgent humanitarian aid and protect refugees and civilians.
