ChatGPT mobile app uninstalls in the US surged 295% on February 28 following news of OpenAI’s deal with the Pentagon to deploy its AI models in classified environments. According to Sensor Tower and reported by TechCrunch, the spike was far above the usual 9% uninstall rate.
US downloads of ChatGPT also fell 13% on Saturday and 5% on Sunday, while downloads of Anthropic’s Claude app rose after the company rejected unrestricted military use of AI.
