"When I write about a Palestinian family, I am actually writing about a human experience. When I depict the misery of the Palestinians, I am in fact presenting the Palestinian as a symbol of misery in the entire world."
- Ghassan Kanafani
It’s important to note that the Finnish team located the bodies of the 4 Italian tourists trapped inside the underwater cave on their first attempt. That’s why everyone is asking, why risk the life of our soldiers when they didn’t have the technical knowledge or equipment.
I respect you and your achievements, and I don’t question your capabilities at all. In fact I do believe you are one of the best in the field but I really don’t think using someone’s death is the right moment for media attention or clout chasing @ShafrazNaeem
You can't go around saying "they ignored limits" & "they shouldn't have gone in" while also proudly talking about doing the same cave 30 times like that somehow proves superiority. If limits were ignored, then dangerous normalization clearly existed long before this tragedy.
Also MNDF Coast Guard trains people through an entire system of instructors, teams, and operational experience over many years. So framing this as “the man who trained him” feels unfair to the institution and everyone else who contributed.
I hv nothing but gratitude for the dearly departed in the line of duty. he should remain a hero of this nation.
So much talk, too many narratives, too much speculation filling the gaps we do not yet understand.
The military does what we task them with .. calculated, measured, disciplined. they knew the risk. they know cost. they are human, yes. but they are also this nation's instrument of duty, bound by obligation we cannot fathom from the outside.
We owe them trust now, not judgment.
We owe them respect in this moment of grief.
Their task is to recover, to honor our nation.
Ours is to let them do it without the weight of our blame. that is the compassion we must show. that is the nation we can choose to be.
@nypost@Inaya_ARaheem None of the Maldives governments since 2009 made it a priority to fund the training and equipment of the dive team. They always used those funds to do something else.
MNDF Divers are highly trained, and they know the risks that come with the job, including the possibility of death. Yet they still step forward and do their duty. That takes real bravery. So stop whining cos it won’t change anything.
@addusalman Exactly!!!! I know the MNDF divers personally. I have trained some of them. They are brave and they would give everything to accomplish their mission. Their hinderance are the politicians!!!
He performed numerous rescues and recoveries of deceased people from the depths before. Tragically he passed away while serving his country, doing what he loves most. A true hero of the nation. I am at a loss for words. Will be missed. إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
Please speak with compassion about those carrying out these operations. They are not expendable they are human beings risking their lives so others may find closure.
The moringa tree, known as the “miracle tree”, is one of the most nutrient-dense plants on the planet and is prized for its healing qualities. It also has another huge benefit, according to new research: it’s excellent at removing microplastics from water. https://t.co/7brn5FoLIA
