Airport reps should be allowed to stay with guests all the way to the check in counters.
When tourists leave Maldives, most staff they meet like immigration/check-in staff/security donโt have friendly faces.
But at least airport reps give guests a happy smile and a good goodbye. That small act makes a big difference. Guests remember it.
In a meeting yesterday, MACL DMD Mujthaba said that after the new terminal opens, resort airport staff should not be allowed to go with guests up to the check-in counters.
He said they are only there to โearn tipsโ.
He doesnโt understand our hospitality industry.
Itโs the friendly, helpful service that guests get at VIA Airport what makes our airport special compared to others in the world.
MACL staff donโt have the special knowledge about each resort or airline thatโs needed to help luxury guests. The resort reps get special training and follow intโl brand rules. Many famous hotel brands also require the rep to stay with the guest until check-in is done. Tipping someone for good service is normal, itโs a way of saying thank you, not something bad.
Mujthaba needs to enroll in a hospitality crash course.
@psmnewsmv@MoTmv @mmprc_corporate Why were they made to plant a tree first of all? taken around for photo ops the moment they landed? They came to the Maldives for an exclusive vacation, likely expecting peace and relaxation and not to be part of a staged PR event.
@psmnewsmv@MoTmv @mmprc_corporate It was clear from the footage that the couple looked quite uncomfortable, surrounded by cameras. While celebrating the arrival of the millionth tourist is a milestone, this kind of treatment feels more like a publicity exercise than a genuine welcome.
