Wieliczka Salt Mine, started in the 13th century & by the time mining stopped in 1996, it had become a sprawling underground city with hundreds of kms of tunnels. Miners didn’t just extract salt, they carved entire chambers, chapels, statues, & corridors out of it. Incredible!

Krakow is one of Europe’s top cities to visit. Main Market Square is one of the largest medieval town squares in Europe. The 2 prominent buildings are the Cloth Hall, & the St. Mary's Basilica.
Wawel castle was a key medieval defensive stronghold & later the seat of Polish rulers

Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, was shaped by prince-archbishops who made it wealthy thanks to salt mining. Known for music festivals, the “Sound of Music,” the charming old town & the Hohensalzburg Fortress, it’s always a favourite stop.

Arrived in #Nuremberg, #Germany on our @AzorcanTours Imperial tour. We had dinner at Zum Gulden Stern, recognized as the world's oldest bratwurst restaurant (1419). We enjoyed the rustic, medieval atmosphere, sausages, cutlets, sauerkraut, potato salad & great beer.
