On the occasion of the forty-fourth anniversary of the founding of the General People's Congress on August 24, 1982, I extend, on my own behalf and on behalf of my colleagues in Restoring the General People's Congress Role Faction, the sincerest congratulations to the Congress leadership, its members, and supporters inside and outside the country, while recalling with utmost appreciation a national journey that has spanned more than four decades, during which the Congress has been one of the most prominent components of Yemeni political life, and a fundamental partner in the milestones of state-building, consolidating political action, and pluralism.

This anniversary comes at a time when Yemen is passing through one of the most difficult stages in its history, placing a doubled national responsibility on all political forces, and foremost among them the Restoring the General People's Congress Role Faction, to preserve the state and its institutions, prioritize the national interest, and contribute effectively to restoring the state, achieving security and stability, and normalizing political life.

From this standpoint, we, as Congress members first and foremost and as Restoring the
General People's Congress Role Faction view this occasion as a station to affirm that the Congress, with the history and broad national extension it represents, is today called upon to restore its active political and institutional role, safeguard the independence of its decisions and its encompassing national identity, open up to various national forces, and adhere to the principles of the republic, the state, the system, and the rule of law.

On this occasion, we reaffirm that we will continue what we have begun with all seriousness and responsibility to contribute to restoring this role, in a way that returns to the Congress its national presence and status as an effective institutional political force, capable of addressing the challenges of the present and the requirements of the future, placing Yemen's interest above all considerations.

We also renew our loyalty to all the senior leaderships, Congress members, and national figures who have offered their contributions and sacrifices in service to Yemen, foremost among them the martyr leader Ali Abdullah Saleh, and the martyr Aref al-Zouka, Secretary-General of the Congress.

Loyalty to the history of the Congress is not achieved by standing at the past, but by drawing lessons from it, bearing responsibility for the present, and working for a future in which Yemen regains its state, security, and stability, and in which the Congress regains its national and institutional role befitting its history, its bases, and its status in Yemeni political life. This will only be achieved by rallying around the state and its political leadership, represented by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Leadership Council, and his brothers, members of the Council and the government, and by mobilizing all energies and efforts to support the battle to restore the state, overthrow the coup, and restore legitimacy to political life.

May God have mercy on those who have passed away among the members of the Congress, and preserve our homeland and our people.

May every year find the General People's Congress, its members, and supporters, and Yemen, in a best situation.
