@ArnicaButler So, I bought this series a long time ago when it was first released, and never got around to reading it until now. It's phenomenal. One of the genre's hottest, novel or series. GOAT candidate. Bravo.
@MaxSebastian There seems to be a copyright infringement vs fair use debate. Maybe the issue needs to be tested in the courts. This article is interesting: https://t.co/LfLzrjP4jU Maybe there's hope this will be settled reasonably before GenAI becomes good enough to write good stories/novels.
@MaxSebastian A separate question: Doesn't the same issue arise for human authors, who have some of the same inputs as GenAIs? Their writing style is influenced by existing books or conversations with other humans. Of course, we could argue that humans and AIs should be treated differently.
@MaxSebastian So I understand the concern but am curious - do you think this is actually an issue? Currently GenAI might be able to imitate a writing style for a few sentences (actually, I'm not sure that's easy to do either), but is it good enough to write a novel that people will enjoy?
So I find it astonishing how often people use the word "lay" incorrectly. "I'm going to lay down", "Please lay down", "You can lay there", "He was laying back in the chair", "I want to lay on the bed" - all of these should say "lie" or "lying" not "lay" or "laying".
@ArnicaButler Hi! Maybe this is a weird request but - Is there any way you could share a sketch of the hotel room from Nikki 1/2? It would help to picture exactly where the chair, headboard, foot of the bed, room entrance, restroom entrance etc. are relative to each other
