Worst bank in resolving simple tasks. Complaint 1086130 was raised on 04AUG24 and closed on 19AUG24 without resolving by simply updating Malaa Report. case 1106281 raised on 14AUG24 not resolved. Malaa Report still shows that I have a Credit Card contract. #bankdhofar #بنك_ظفار

“Date”? I hope you’re just trying to be dramatic. Anything else makes you look like a simpleton. The simple answer is, no! He did not “date” a 9 year old, but he did “marry” one according to the most reliable sources of Islam. Now, it is understandable why that troubles you and many others today, including many Muslims. I, however, believe that emerges from assumptions which lead you to ask the wrong questions. You probably think “My God! How could he “molest” a 9 year old and still be taken seriously. Wouldn’t that make him a pedophile?” That your mind would interpret “marriage” as “molest” simply because it was a ‘child marriage’ speaks volumes about how much your own perceptions of reality and morality have been warped by secular liberal standardization.

My guess is that you would not think it that big a deal if the Prophet—upon him God’s blessing and peace—was closer to her in age, like, let’s say, 15 (?). I also suspect that you lack any disgust for Al Pacino who is 83 and will be father to a child to be born to a 29 year old woman. You probably aren’t bothered either by the fact that that same woman was “dating” Mick Jagger (currently 79 years old) before Pacino. Likewise, I doubt that you even consider sex before marriage to be sinful.

Again, “why did he date a 9 year old?” is both the wrong question and a stupid one at the same time. Why he “married” a 9 year old is legitimate, but still yet the wrong question. “Children” have no right to consent to things like marriage. So, the right question begins with, ‘Why did her parents marry her off to the Prophet—upon him God’s blessing and peace—so young?’

Do you believe parents have the right to make decisions for their children? Do you think they, generally, act in their best interest? Do you believe parents do things they believe will help, not harm their children? If so, why are you bothered by the decision of these parents to marry their young daughter to the Prophet—upon him God’s blessing and peace? What crime or sin did he commit? And if so, according to what moral philosophy or sacred law code? Why didn’t his enemies consider this marriage to be a sign of him being a charlatan and we only today treat it as an enormity without any objective moral standard?

“Child marriages” have been common for all human history. And not every child’s psychological growth is equal to his/her physiological growth. That is, some children mature psychologically and physically faster than others. This is one of the reasons that according to Islamic law sexual intercourse is not lawful with a minor girl whose body cannot physically withstand penetration. Lawful sex is not determined merely by the fact that she does or does not have a menstrual cycle. And, we have no reason to believe that Aisha—God be pleased with her—(the name of the young wife of the Prophet) did not have the appearance of a young woman ready to bear this burden.

“Marriage” is not “molestation.” Nor is it pedophilia (as suggested here) which the DSM classifies as a pathology. Though detractors of the Prophet, like you, continue to try to paint him as a pedophile while ignoring the conditions laid out in the DSM (not that it has the final word on pathology and psychosis), there is no proof of him suffering from any such condition, which entails: -Intense recurrent sexual urges and fantasies
- about prepubescent children
- acted upon
- or cause distress or interpersonal difficulty

The Prophet was married to at least 10 women at once. Aisha was only one who was prepubescent when they “married.” Her parents felt honored to become his in laws through the marriage. And she exhibited no signs of trauma due to her age. She, rather, boasted of her being his favorite wife and became a pillar of the Islamic teachings.
