🧠 3HIGHZERO — Coverage Strategy
The coverage settings are built to make the 3-high safety shell the foundation of the defense. The three safeties provide depth and prevent explosive vertical plays while the underneath defenders handle the short and intermediate areas.
Conservative Plaster: Keeps defenders disciplined instead of aggressively abandoning their zones.
O.O.P. & Time Plaster Trigger: Helps defenders react naturally based on the route and timing of the play.
Highest OVR Roll Coverage: Lets the defense use its best coverage personnel when rotations occur.
Flats — 5: Protects the quick outside game without pulling defenders too deep.
Curls — 5: Helps close intermediate outside windows.
Hooks — 15: Gives the linebackers more depth to defend crossing routes, seams and intermediate throws.
The result: The safeties stay over the top while the underneath defenders compress the space underneath them.
🛡️ 3HIGHZERO — Defensive Adjustments
The adjustments complement the safety structure by creating a defense that can play physical underneath without sacrificing deep protection.
Conservative Tackling: Prioritizes staying sound and limiting missed tackles.
Press Corners: Disrupts releases and slows down receivers while the safeties provide protection behind them.
Safety Depth — 9: Creates additional insurance against deep shots and vertical concepts.
Default Safety Width/Midpoint: Maintains balanced positioning for rotations and multiple offensive formations.
Aggressive Ballhawk: Gives the deep defenders more opportunity to attack throws when the quarterback puts the ball in their area.
🔥 Why It Makes 3HIGHZERO Flourish
3HIGHZERO is essentially a “protect deep, squeeze underneath, attack mistakes” philosophy.
The three safeties give you a deep safety net. The linebackers and corners control the intermediate areas, while the defensive front can focus on generating pressure without constantly asking the secondary to survive one-on-one deep.
Multiple looks. Same foundation.
Take away explosives. Force checkdowns. Create mistakes.
