The Mayosi report panel was alive to the mental health debates in institutions of higher learning in South Africa, a focus that was further reinforced by the IRTC report of 2018 and the FHS’s Mental Health Working Group (MHWG) findings of April 2019.
‘There are anecdotal accounts of micro-aggression or resistance observed by administrative support staff who had served various deans and deputy deans.
In one reported instance Professor Mayosi had instructed his personal assistant to arrange a meeting with a white colleague who, in a hostile tone, asked why he did not call personally.
