@howie_hua (I notice most mixed number division scenarios are “here’s the piece size, but how many pieces?” types of problems, so it’s been super helpful as a teacher for them to have that approach in their toolkit!)

@howie_hua I also like teaching it not just as “2/3 is the multiplier” but also “2/3 is the piece size”, aka “how many times does 2/3 go into 8?”

With a model they get the reciprocal:
2/3 goes into *1 whole* …3/2 times

Therefore 2/3 goes into *8*
…8 times as many times
= 8 * 3/2

@howie_hua Noticed it was the “n^2” sequence (1+3+5+7) and another one upside down, with the “7” overlapping.

So:

4^2 + 4^2 - 7

16 + 16 - 7

32 - 7

32 - 2 - 5
