There's the work of self love, celebrating, congregating, sleeping, exercising, doing what we need to feel alive, to be alive. #werealright

[BAD Womanists @BADWomanists]

Historically black women have worked hard, hardest. at home, in academia, at work, enslaved. #werealright There's work to do for ourselves.

[BAD Womanists @BADWomanists]

The self-sacrificing black woman has become to common and accepted ideal. it's become ordinary for us to put ourselves last. #werealright

[BAD Womanists @BADWomanists]

The conversation with self has to be centered around "what do I need to do to feel good?" With my sexuality, my health, my family, work, etc

[BAD Womanists @BADWomanists]

...so how do we resist the idea that there are a set of "right" decisions that if made will ensure that we're okay, safe, and accepted?

[BAD Womanists @BADWomanists]

To subscribe to respectability politics is to exist to consistently attempt to prove to others that you're worthy of existing. #werealright
