This is a big moment that demands leadership.
Leadership founded on principles that have informed my life - and with which I honour where I've come from.
Work.
Care.
Equality.
Security.
They're British values.
They're the tools of my trade.
And with them, I'll go to work.
Britain is at a crossroads: down one path is the same inequality of opportunity and insecurity.
Labour's path will provide security and opportunity to the working people who are the backbone of our country.

I paid my respects to the victims of the 9/11 attacks at the Memorial Garden in Grosvenor Square.
Nearly 3,000 lives were taken, more than 6,000 people were injured and to this day their loved ones carry pain in their hearts.
Today, and every day, we honour and remember them.
Our new deal for working people will make work pay.
Labour will 👇
⬆️ Up the minimum wage to £10 an hour immediately
🤒 Ensure sick pay for everyone
🛡 Protect against unfair dismissal
🏠 Give working people the right to work flexibly

We must then confront the new reality and challenges of Taliban control. Britain and our allies must use every lever we have to try and hold the Taliban to account.
I pay tribute to our brave armed forces and diplomatic staff who have done so much to give so many a new life as part of Operation Pitting.
We owe them a great debt of gratitude.
The Government must now urgently set out a plan for those tragically left behind.
My heart is heavy at the events of the past few days. I watched the video of George Floyd pleading for his life under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer. No person of conscience can hear Floyd’s cries for help and not understand that something is deeply wrong in America.
Respect for different views builds understanding, cultural security and equality of opportunity. Last night I had the privilege of speaking at the #GaneshChaturthi celebrations at the Shaktkti Mandir Hindu temple in Leicester E. Thank you @HemanttBhatia@BAME_Labour for arranging
Delighted with the news from #Labour Group in #Leicester. After resounding victory in the local council and mayoral elections they have elected Cllr @vriyait as chair and Cllr George Cole as vice chair of their group at the AGM. Both of #BAME background. Well done!
Our long standing demand to build a proper database of #BAME membership is finally taking place. Check your email and do participate in this survey by providing your details accurately. Thank you @JennieGenSec and to all members who have campaigned relentlessly for this.
Humbled to be recognised by @LabourBAME at #EmLab19 for my work to encourage BAME participation in politics in the E Midlands. I will continue to work with friends like @HemanttBhatia@rufiaashraf@NicolleNdiweni to build a party that reflects the diversity of our region
