Watch a bank holiday land on a GP practice. 1,346 tasks. 65 seconds. 1 second = 10 real minutes.

The first hour is *insane*. You'll miss us when we are gone.

In 1 week, it will be national policy to bounce 1/4 of GP referrals.

[Nat Martin @The_HiggsBoson]

This should worry every GP.
Hospital-led GP contracts = loss of independence, loss of voice, loss of the partnership model.
This isn’t integration it’s absorption.

[JS Bamrah CBE @jsbamrah]

@wesstreeting Has it ever occurred to you both that the reason we are more likely to be referred could be due to racism at the GMC?
That you have both discounted the loyal service many of us have given to the #NHS ?
Both Labour & Tories have plundered other nations to recruit doctors & nurses

[Dr Luke Evans MP @drlukeevans]

🧵 GPs are asking straight forward questions about the change on Advice & Guidance to a single point of access system.

I have asked the Goverment about:
▶️ clinical responsibility
▶️ evidence base
▶️ where patients are recorded on waiting lists

To name a few

General practice is vital to a healthy NHS.

Yet, it is on the verge of total collapse.

Our new report shows why GPs – and the vital role they play in our health system – must be valued.

Great chart below/right from @TheIFS about ridiculous tax cliff at £100k cuasing *obscene* marginal tax rates.

But you can draw a very similar chart (left) for higher earning doctors affected by the stupid & ill-conceived #taper which is **really damaging** waiting list recovery @wesstreeting @RachelReevesMP

Doctors want to help with waiting lists, but they cannot #PayToWork
RT if you want government to finally #ScrapTheTaper

Example 101 of NHS Referral forms being a way of restricting care to patients.

Would a consultant to consultant referral be blocked for this? Why are GP referrals being blocked?

(We don't use referral forms unless helpful ala collective action)

Our recent survey revealed 1 in 5 GPs in England plan to change their career because they can’t find work - write to your MP and urge them to support changes that will allow more GPs to work in the NHS.

Collective action will now be aimed at ICBs rather than the Government, with GP leaders advising practices to continue at a local level despite the new contract deal. https://t.co/RczFtp5clt #GPcontract #GPcollectiveaction #NHSdisputes #NHSEngland

[General Practice @BMA_GP]

If grassroots GPs are telling @doctor_katie "this is going to break us", the time for collective action in general practice is surely NOW.
Make sure you are involved to protect your practice, your staff and your patients.

Fascinating.
NHSE have assessed worst case scenario of GP Collective Action.
Stopping non-contractual work could cost the NHS £570m in the first 4 months.

Extrapolated - @NHSEngland have just admitted General Practice is doing £1.7billion of non-contractual work every year
