Today BARS recognizes Dean Ramona Denby-Brinson who has led @UNC_SSW since 2021. Dean Denby-Brinson is the first Black woman dean of the SSW since its founding in 1920. Trailblazing behavior!!!! We love to see it! #WHM2024#SWMonth2024

We are excited to close out #BHM2024 by honoring Dorothy Height, known as "the Godmother of the Civil Rights Movement." She was a women's rights and anti-lynching advocate who co-organized the 1963 March on Washington and served as the President of @NCNWHQ for over 40 years.
Today we honor Dr. George Edmund Haynes, co-founder and 1st ED of @NatUrbanLeague and the 1st African American to graduate from the NY School of Philanthropy (@ColumbiaSSW). Dr. Haynes was a special assistant to the US Secretary of Labor and a Professor at @CUNY. #BHM2024
Today we honor Mildred “Mit” Joyner, a gerontology and multicultural issues scholar, @nasw Pioneer, and Past President of @cswe and NASW. @mittjoy was an alum of @CentralState87 and @HU_social work. A beloved social work giant who is sorely missed. #BHM2024

This week, BARS honors leaders who recently became ancestors. 1st is Dr. Ruby M. Gourdine, a @nasw recognized SW pioneer and expert in juvenile justice and child welfare. An alumna of @HU_socialwork and the Atlanta University SSW, Dr. G taught at HU for nearly 30 years. #BHM2024
