@absurdkat@maximumpain333 The origin of “Pussy” referring to a woman’s genitalia is from the word “puss” (think puss in boots), which dates back to the 1500s.
“Pussy” became a diminutive form of puss basically “kitty.”
Using animal metaphors for genitalia is very common linguistically. (Cock for example)
@beyoncegarden When discussions about gender become increasingly polarized, it becomes harder to focus on mutual respect and shared goals rather than arguing endlessly about definitions or framing one side as the problem, it might be more productive to ask how men and women can work together.🇫🇷
@beyoncegarden The insult “pussy” is often treated as inherently misogynistic, but its origin may actually come from pusillanimous, a Latin-derived word meaning cowardly or faint-hearted. The term historically referred to a lack of courage rather than femininity.
@beyoncegarden My broader concern is that modern discourse often deepens a divide between men and women instead of encouraging cooperation. Men and women obviously have biological differences, but society functions best when those differences are understood without turning them into enemies.
@beyoncegarden That said, I do agree with some of the concerns raised—especially about the hyper-sexualization of women and the way certain imagery, like “schoolgirl” aesthetics, can be normalized in ways that deserve criticism.
