Innovators in Primitive Skills prepped their fire pits yesterday, and today they used flint and steel or hand drills to create fire. They then charcoal grilled deer meat on sharpened skewers. (One innovator brought chopsticks from home in order to eat the tasty treat.)

BAdLab freshmen and juniors learned proper handling of the microscope, how to properly find a focus a specimen, and how to record proper observations. They even had a chance to collect specimens if their own from outside to examine!

XPO innovators have been hard at work on their original production, ”The Blizzard,” which is a modern comedy adaptation of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.” The production will take place on January 13 and 14 at Kirkland Theatre. Ticket information will be announced soon!

Our Drones elective spent time this morning constructing an obstacle course for their drones. Drones is an elective that is open to enrollment for BAHS and BAFA students on the Vanguard campus.

Flintknapping is the process of chipping flakes of rock off to create an arrowhead. Outward Bound innovators have learned so much during this process and would like to thank PTSA for funding this project!

Vanguard Design Rotation students visited the state capitol to set up a display to represent the fallen soldiers of Oklahoma from 9/11. Each star represents an individual. The display will be up for public viewing in the Supreme Court hallway from November 28th to December 16th.

Vanguard Design Rotation innovators visited Leisure Park Elementary to discuss how our Human-Centered Design class could help them solve shade problems on the playground, as well as implement a system to paint the blacktop surface.

Scimatics 2 innovators combined their understanding of Trigonometry and Physics to make predictions on trajectory and distance at multiple angles of incidence.
