The recognition of the Republic of Somaliland has entered an irreversible phase, grounded in empirically observable realities including its distinct historical trajectory, overwhelming domestic legitimacy demonstrated through sustained public support, effective and democratic governance, demonstrated state capacity and long-term stability.

My country’s (Somaliland) strategic land and maritime location along critical international sea lanes, untapped natural resource potential, and the growing convergence of rational foreign policy interests, evidenced by Israel’s recognition, which increasingly leads credible international actors to acknowledge that Somaliland’s de facto and de jure statehood is incompatible with any serious characterization of it as part of Somalia’s failed state system and instead positions its recognition as a pragmatic and stabilizing outcome for regional security, economic development, and global strategic competition.

My heartfelt condolences go to Ida Odinga, the extended Odinga family, and the government and entire people of Kenya on the passing of the former Prime Minister of Kenya, and truely great friend of Somaliland, H.E Raila Odinga.

Throughout his remarkable lifetime, Raila Odinga has had profound impact on the lives of Kenyans, tirelessly championing their freedoms, democratic rights, and the advancement of good governance. He struggled immensely in his campaign to push back against one-party authoritarianism in Kenya.

In a similar spirit, Odinga devoted a great deal of his time to addressing the challenges facing the African continent at large. As the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development, he played a leading role in advancing the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) and promoting greater continental connectivity and integration.
He will be remembered as a visionary reformer, a principled statesman and a pan-African leader whose influence extended well beyond Kenyan borders.

For the Republic of Somaliland, his passing marks the loss of a distinguished friend and a great voice among Africa's leaders. His friendship with Somaliland went years back, as he personally had close connections with the early Somalilanders who arrived in Kenya during the colonial era.

We owe to him much for his thoughtful assertion and consistent support to the solemn cause of the Somaliland people. Had he ascended to the Presidency of Kenya, there is little doubt that the Republic of Somaliland would have found in him a steadfast advocate for its rightful recognition.

May his legacy of courage, reform, and unity continue to inspire generations across Africa.

Beyond our introductory exchange where we shared the political history of both our countries, our discussion with the Green Party leader and the Party Whip centered on key topics of mutual interest including advancement of social justice, democracy, and green policies. KAAH Party commits itself toward these shared ideals.

We agreed to pursue further collaboration of converging areas and knowledge exchange to realize the full potential of both parties and toward a world that's more just and green.
