@wowee321@yogorrtt@ryloken68 It seems like Capricorn can affect the physical world really well, but the Blackwall AI probably have a greater control over the NET
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll Sigh; ok. You’re going to keep making up intents and words I didn’t say or imply.
I don’t care anymore, go ahead and make up whatever straw man you want me to be.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll Yes, I am sure saying “We shouldn’t call X thing spyware if it hasn’t been proven to be spyware” could be seen as a bias to X. I can’t help how twitter users fail to understand.
I want the public to remain suspicious of EGL, and not water down any actual cases of Spyware.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll Sigh.
Again, because you can not read, I am not against you being suspicious of EGL. Frankly, I think they’re shady.
I also have explicitly stated that I’m not ruling it out. I stated that I would change my mind if it was found out to be spyware. Please stop misinterpreting me.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll What?
What strawman? I’ve already said it is suspect and it’s perfectly fine to suspect. What are you on about? I’ve mentioned multiple times my dislike for EGL. I just don’t think it should be called Spyware, unless it is.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll I really don’t care what you label it as except for a definite “it is spyware.,” unless there’s evidence that there is spyware. Which, as we’ve already gone over, there isn’t evidence of the current EGL being spyware.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll It is biased towards the truth, which is that it’s not proven to be Spyware.
They can be shady. But it is not definitely Spyware.
EGS sucks. We don’t need to lie about it.
@drakkillen@AblemanAdam@GloriousEggroll I guess we will just disagree that doing something in the past automatically makes you guilty in the future. That’ll just be our disagreement.
However, I think we can both agree that the EGL sucks.
@drakkillen@AblemanAdam@GloriousEggroll Ok, we can’t just go around calling things spyware because they haven’t proven to not be spyware.
Otherwise, you can call all closed source software spyware until they give you their source code.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll Yes. I would like suspected spyware more, so we don’t water down actual cases of spyware.
Otherwise, more and more people will tie “software is spyware” with “software is made by potentially shady people”
which is much more unhelpful
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll Are you under the impression that I am trying to say that Epic is good or reputable?
No. I am saying that their software isn’t spyware. As far as I know, and I’ll change my mind if it was proven otherwise.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll Ok, but then why are we calling it Spyware? We can’t claim that either.
Clearly absolute labels here are bad, which is the only thing I’ve been arguing about.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll Looking at eMudhra is a great point. That is a clear case of incompetence.
Epic’s incompetence was the reason for the issue in 2019.
I have never argued against you being doubtful or suspicious of Epic. I just don’t think it should be labeled Spyware without proof.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll But, so far, from Valve not saying they sent the data, and no other independent analysis proving they sent the data (that i could find, would be awesome if you had one), I am assuming they didn’t.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll They didn’t have access to that information if it never got to their servers. We are both running under different assumptions, you, under the assumption that it got to Epic’s servers, and me otherwise.
Whether or not it did would determine if it was malicious.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll It’s a claim they made. Valve stated they would look into it, and they never brought up anything.
It’s likely we will never be able to 100% verify it, but it looks more likely that it wasn’t sent than it was.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll I’m going with the assumption that it hasn’t been sent, because if it was, I’d assume the rival corporation would’ve made that public.
@AblemanAdam@drakkillen@GloriousEggroll There was no gained revenue stream in this, because we know the data wasn’t sent to Epic’s servers without consent.
Epic stated it, Valve stated they would look into it as well, they had never challenged their statement of it staying local. Do you have any proof it being sent?
