@TogunToyin @paimadhu @mrcunitgambia Same exact experience in 2022 when I needed to present my PhD findings at the Int. Soc. for Exposure Science meeting in Portugal. Despite being awarded a very competitive travel grant, I ended up not attending due to visa appointment issues. ! It frustrating and deeply annoying.
Few scientists change research area after their PhD so I thought I'd give some pros and cons. My Phd was on cancer immunotherapy & I changed to TB for my 2nd post doc. Challenges include re-establishing track record, pros = direct patient benefit, x-discipline immunology assays.
It was refreshing to be part of the discuss around improving lives through medical research at the 75th Anniversary of MRCG at LSHTM. Rare privilege for me! #AirQuality#COPD#asthma
Hot off the press...Our study on Ambient Air pollution measurement using low cost sensors in LMICs reveals its feasibility and alludes to the potential of citizen science involvement in clean air advocacy and policy change. https://t.co/5RrnIAGLHA
When his baby boy was diagnosed with sickle cell, he determined his mission in life would be to combat the disease. He died at age 76, still active in that quest. https://t.co/2iMaJpqXED
GP numbers continued to spiral downwards, while appointments in England were up by 4m last month. This is completely untenable for practices, GPs and patients.

I truly believe that my generation is the last for whom medicine is a financially worthwhile career. The effort:reward ratio simply doesn’t stack up anymore. Medicine risks becoming the domain only of those whose parents can afford to bankroll their training.
What does a remote clinical X-ray meeting look like 🤔
Our Clinical Services team partnered with @wwradiology for our first experience, as part of our efforts to improve the quality of care we offer to our patients.

I’ve just had a rather interesting first experience @GlobalHealthBMJ -
A manuscript was reviewed by 3 people. 2 quite critical, 1 enthusiastic.
The editor asked for major revisions.
The enthusiastic reviewer emailed editor to complain that the other 2 reviewers were unfair.
