The London Lions continuing to be a source inspiration has led me to write this poem - heavily inspired by Louis Dunford's Arsenal Anthem North London Forever
Please share with the Lions community and make sure you get a ticket for next weeks final!
@UKBballWatcher@surreyscorchers@FIBA Not surprising to be honest, this has been a massive issue across the league for years now. It goes beyond one or two players, unfortunately has become part of the culture at multiple teams. Lack of education coupled with no min salary for players are key causes imo.
GBBL with first revelation of plans:
🔹 Aiming for 10 franchises for 2026/27 launch
🔹 Targeting Ldn, B'ham, Leeds/Bradford, Liv'pool, S'hampton/Portsmouth, Nott'ham, Ed'burgh, Cardiff, Coventry
🔹 Announce WestRiver Group & Sir Keith Mills as partners

@JohnAmaechi@Freshfields You have my support John - you should be allowed to voice your legitamate experiences and opinions and its completely okay if people disagree with them. This populist fan witch hunt in making you and Chris public enemys is cruel and unecessary! Let the legal processes play out!
Sorry but wishing ill on people and insulting them is not the answer imo. Allow the due digiligance and government intervention to do its job and then take meaningful action if that process fails. British basketball would be a lot more successful if it was a kinder place...
@SamNeter Nothing against Padel but the gentrification of sport is wild, Canary Wharf is a great example - You have the free Artist designed basketball court right next to a padal falicity at £20 an hour per person😳
A public apology is one of the rarest things in Brirish Basketball, that should be enough to convince a lot of people that you were truly coming from a place of love for the game and the league, huge respect!
I just want to say I fully support @vaughnmillette on his commitment to the SLB and work on tackling racism in the league - The initial social media comments were concerncing without context but ultimately it appears they were a neceassary step to take to ensure we have justice!
Fully support Atiba and the Sharks statement!
Unfortunately, I have experienced firsthand the leagues complete inability to deal with issues of injustice!
The league need to deal with this as a priority!!!
Sadly completely predictable with how totally ridiculous the situation became. Absoloutely amazed that no one was able to intervene with some much needed damage control and let it get to this point.
Told the SLB’s head of officiating Richard Stokes has resigned following the chair’s diatribe - and others following suit.
Referees voted and “unanimously” agreed to withdraw their services.
Majorly weakens SLB’s case to take responsibility for pro league vs tender winner.
Truely incredible - There is proper channels for these issues for a reason!
What's to stop all the refs now from just withdrawing their services for the rest of the season if this is how the CEO treats them - These comments jeprodise the entire operations of the league!!!
Chair of the SLB effectively accuses one of the league's own officials of racism.
Quite extraordinary, and potentially libellous.
I'm told officials taking legal advice and may withdraw services unless an apology is made.
@saintpat1962@vaughnmillette@SprLeagueBballM Any other pro sport and this post would result in a substantial fine of thousands of pounds!
To bring the entire league and sport into disrepute and to then fully name an individual referee like this is totally unacceptable!!!
Absoloutely huge news!
This will secure the long term legacy of the Lions for the next 25+ years!!!
The womens team will have an arena to call home that is worthy of their talents!
The London Lions are excited to announce we have received backing from the Mayor of London to develop a world-class, purpose-built basketball arena in the capital!
