Most people think calf cramps mean something is wrong with their calves. Usually, it means your body is compensating.
Your calf muscle crosses the knee joint just like your hamstrings, so when your hamstrings aren’t fully engaging, your body recruits the calves to help… and they cramp fast.
One of the biggest reasons? Foot position.
Toes pointed = calves shortened + more likely to cramp
Toes pulled toward shins = calves less involved + tension shifts to hamstrings
It can also happen if you’re:
• Going too heavy
• Moving too fast
• Not controlling the lowering phase
• Weak in the shortened hamstring position
• Low on hydration/electrolytes
Easy fix:
Pull your toes up, slow the rep down, and lighten the weight until you actually feel your hamstrings working.
Once you build that connection, the calf cramps usually disappear.
If you’re over 60 and taking daytime naps, you might be doing more harm than good to your nighttime sleep. Here’s why. ⬇️

Tag someone who swears they have a “slow metabolism”
You don’t have a slow metabolism… you have low muscle mass.
Muscle isn’t just for looks, it’s metabolically active tissue that directly impacts your metabolism, overall health, and how your body burns energy daily.
Here are 5 ways building muscle actually speeds things up:
1️⃣ Burns more at rest
Muscle requires more energy than fat → meaning you burn more calories doing nothing.
2️⃣ Increases your “afterburn”
Strength training boosts EPOC, so your body keeps burning calories long after your workout is over.
3️⃣ Improves how you use carbs
More muscle = better insulin sensitivity → less fat storage, more fuel used properly.
4️⃣ Regulates your hormones
Lifting supports hormones that control appetite, blood sugar, and fat metabolism.
5️⃣ Keeps your metabolism high as you age
More muscle = a stronger, more resilient metabolism and lower risk of metabolic issues.
Stop blaming your metabolism.
Start building muscle.
Increasing line speeds results in more conscious chickens when the knife hits their throats, more accidents among workers, & risk of contamination - a trend we've already seen rising.
