OGUN POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS ANOTHER SUSPECT OVER FALSE SECURITY ALERT AND FAKE NEWS, WARNS AGAINST SPREAD OF MISINFORMATION

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Mr. Johnson Elleh for producing and circulating a misleading video falsely alleging kidnapping and banditry activities along the Owode-Idiroko axis of Ogun State.

Upon receipt of the viral video, the Command immediately subjected its contents to scrutiny and commenced a swift investigation to verify the claims contained therein. Findings revealed that the video was false, misleading, and deliberately designed to create fear, panic, and anxiety among members of the public. Extensive investigation and verification further established that there was no kidnapping or banditry incident as portrayed in the video within the Owode-Idiroko axis or its environs.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was featured in the video and was subsequently identified by detectives, leading to his arrest. Preliminary findings indicate that he deliberately fabricated and circulated the false narrative for attention and content creation purposes. His actions were capable of causing unnecessary public alarm, disrupting social order, and undermining public confidence in the security architecture of the State.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to intentionally creating and disseminating the misleading content to generate online engagement and public reaction. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.

The Ogun State Police Command strongly condemns the deliberate spread of fake news, false security alerts, and other forms of misinformation capable of causing fear, panic, and confusion among law-abiding citizens. The Command hereby issues a stern warning to individuals and groups engaged in the creation, publication, recirculation, or dissemination of unverified security-related information that such acts constitute a threat to public peace and security and will attract the full weight of the law. The Command will continue to identify, arrest, investigate, and prosecute all persons found culpable, irrespective of status or motive.

The Command acknowledges the concerns of residents who may have been alarmed by the misleading video and wishes to reassure the public that Ogun State remains safe, peaceful, and secure. Residents are encouraged to remain calm, continue their lawful activities without fear, and rely solely on verified information disseminated through official channels. The Command remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining public order across the State.

The Ogun State Police Command has observed the circulation of an old video on social media falsely portrayed as a recent incident in Ogun State. The Command wishes to clarify that the footage relates to an incident that occurred in 2024 and is being deliberately recirculated with misleading captions capable of creating a false impression among members of the public.

OGUN POLICE NAB SECURITY GUARD FOR THEFT OF MOTOR SPARE PARTS

Operatives of Owode-Egba Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old security guard, Friday Ayuba, for allegedly stealing motor spare parts belonging to his employer at Ita-Asu Village, via Owode-Egba.

The arrest followed a report received at the Division on 30th May 2026 at about 6:00pm from the manager of the affected company, who informed the police that the suspect had earlier been apprehended by operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS), Ogun State Command, at the Sagamu Interchange axis along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly attempting to move company property without authorization.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, an employee of the company, was found in possession of several motor spare parts suspected to have been unlawfully removed from the company's premises. The recovered items include four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all identified as property of the company.

During the course of investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted to the theft. Detectives promptly visited the scene for further investigation and documentation, while the recovered items were secured as exhibits.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the vigilance of the company management and the swift, coordinated response of the Quick Response Squad and officers of Owode-Egba Division, which led to the successful recovery of the stolen property and the apprehension of the suspect.

The CP reiterated the Command's commitment to protecting businesses, critical assets, and residents across the State through intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention strategies. The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, received members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Ogun State Chapter, led by the Acting Chairperson, Mrs. Bolanle Adeoye, on a courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Speaking during the visit, the Acting Chairperson, Mrs. Bolanle Adeoye, commended the Commissioner of Police for his exemplary leadership, professionalism, and sustained commitment to the welfare of officers and their families. She noted that POWA remains committed to strengthening family support systems, promoting unity, and complementing the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in enhancing the well-being of personnel.

She further appreciated the Commissioner for fostering a conducive environment that supports discipline, stability, and effective policing operations, while assuring continued collaboration with the Command in advancing welfare-oriented initiatives.

Please refrain from sharing the video, as it did not originate from Nigeria.

The Nigeria Police Force has observed a video circulating online being falsely linked to the Oyo school children abduction incident.

To clarify, the video in question did not originate from Nigeria and is unrelated to the Oyo incident. It is foreign footage deliberately circulated to mislead the public and disrupt the ongoing rescue operation.

This is a deliberate act of misinformation. We recognize the fear and concern motivating these shares. Parents are understandably distressed, communities are deeply affected, and all Nigerians want the safe return of the children.

However, sharing foreign videos as evidence of this incident does not assist the affected children and may compromise the rescue operation.

Currently, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies have intensified rescue operations. Intelligence-led efforts are ongoing, and all available resources are focused on ensuring the safe return of the children and teachers.

Individuals intentionally circulating this false footage are hindering the rescue efforts. The Nigeria Police Force is monitoring these activities.

We urge well-meaning Nigerians to verify before you share. Report credible information to security agencies. And trust that the people working to rescue those children are not resting.

A stolen phone led to the discovery of hidden firearms.

A routine patrol recovered an abandoned weapon.

A carpenter's assistant was revealed to be a cult member.

Within one week, the Ogun State Police Command successfully conducted three separate operations across all divisions.

CASE ONE: Afon Division:
A stolen Tecno phone valued at ₦180,000 was reported. Police operatives tracked and recovered the phone. During a search of the suspects' residence, they discovered a locally made pistol and a Dane gun concealed inside.

Both Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu Adegbola, were arrested.

CASE TWO:  Ilisan Remo Division:
During a 7:30 AM routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout, officers found an abandoned locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge. The weapon was secured immediately.

The weapon was intercepted before reaching its intended recipient.

CASE THREE: Ode Remo Division:
Inioluwa Adesanya, 25, gained access to a home as a carpenter's assistant and left with a stolen Dane gun. During the investigation, he confessed to being a member of the Aye confraternity. The weapon was being modified for concealment.

The suspect was arrested, exhibits were secured, and transfer to the SCID is underway.

IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, personally commended the Ogun State Command for these three operations, which demonstrate his longstanding belief that intelligence-led policing finds criminals wherever they hide.

Whether behind a family home, on a public roundabout, or concealed in a carpenter's toolbox, criminals are located.

Under this leadership, there is no hiding place for criminals.
