@JockTaxes Love the idea of this account and shedding some light on non-AAV considerations but this is quite a long ways off from reality. The tax advantage was substantial. I’d be happy to connect to talk through real-life scenario to help pull these closer to reality for your followers.
@CHN_AdamWodon@chnews I think the answer is in the article as well: If staying put multiple years correlates to better NHL careers, players will recognize this and make wise choices. Hockey NIL and Rev Share no where near NHL money. In NFL, it’s close so can’t blame anyone for following guaranteed $
@TonyAndrock@InsideAHLHockey I think this will go the opposite way. Previously teams could offer prospects AHL deals that looked a looked a lot like NHL ELCs in terms of $ and signing bonus I expect this will be a new cap on those deals and limit the ability of higher-budget AHL teams to use this tool.
Michigan State is Team of the Week, after improving to 9-1. The major junior issue continues to dominate off-ice. We talk to player agent @BBarts of the Bartlett Agency about the ramifications. That and much more.

An extremely clear & well-written article on something we have started seeing in college hockey: the intersection of NIL, revenue sharing, and scholarships - and the uncertainty of whether or not it’ll all hold water.
@JasonGregor Between school-specific “collectives”, local businesses and traditional deals like equipment and card companies, a ton of NCAA players have NIL deals. All of the American high-NHL-drafted players have (or should have) significant NIL deals.
In light of new NCAA eligibility for CHL players, I’d guess CHL teams start helping facilitate endorsement (name, image, and likeness) deals for their top players to keep pace. Can’t get $ above necessary expenses from the CHL team but can always monetize NIL outside of team.
The proposal that would allow CHL players to retain NCAA eligibility will be considered during the November D1 Council meeting. If approved, it will not take effect until Aug. 1, 2025. So, no midseason CHL players.
@WildcatOil@dpmichaud Great point. The CHL gets $ from the NHL for players drafted CHL so they’ll have an incentive to try to minimize this. Also-outside of late birthdays & really exceptional players, there aren’t many players who have been able to dominate in draft year so we shall see if prevalent
Open ?s after NCAA eventually affords CHL players eligibility: Will CHL allow players to leave before their contract expires? Will USA Hockey grant all immediate USHL to CHL transfers? Will Hockey Canada allow BCHL players back to CHL despite passing Sept 30 deadline? Many more…
@myates1223 This could be an interesting battle if/when a CHL player asks the team to pay their tuition, as per an existing education package, to attend school and play NCAA hockey. Is there any real distinction between paying for a school with U Sports team?
Mark Kastelic is going to be an instant fan favorite with @NHLBruins. Fast, mean, tough, loyal teammate and amazing in the community. 6’3” center you build a bottom 6 around. Old-school Bruin identity.

This marks Cale’s 4th consecutive season as finalist for the Norris. His only pro season when he wasn’t voted a top-3 defenseman was 2020 - when he won the Calder 🏆
