I've looked into the reMarkable many times over the last few years, but the fact that you have to pay cloud subscription has always put me off. Especially since its closed source with no other vendors. Vendor lock in at its best.
Anyone with a @remarkablepaper with any thoughts?
And I may or may not submit proof depending on possibility / privacy / etc.
In short, I guess vague rules, but best intentions ๐ I mean, it is a birthday gift to me after all ๐คท
With my birthday coming up, I have a gift request:
Please donate to Open Source!
If you do it between now and the 26th of Feb, I will match it! (up to a maximum of โฌ2000).
It can be $1, or 50 cents. The amount doesn't matter. But it would help celebrate my birthday this year!
free to recommend/suggest in the comments. Depending on the final amount, I may have to save some money. I will therefore have until the end of the year to come up with the money / make the donations... So deadline is December 2023.
Thanks to everyone who has gotten in touch to submit their proposals for this year. We are 50% of the way there, with two weeks to go. ๐
Please keep sharing our tweets and the blog URL with your friends and colleagues, so we can fill up those last slots.

@dgoosens @heiglandreas @IfThisThenDev@waxzce Which I guess could be solved by giving better training/requirements to people who install solar panels on rooftops. However, still highlights that as things stand today, Nuclear is by far the safest energy source per unit we have.
@dgoosens @heiglandreas @IfThisThenDev@waxzce I remember some research being done into this, which put nuclear mortality rates per energy unit way below everything else, even wind and solar. This is slightly skewed as a lot of "solar" deaths are caused by non-professionals falling off rooftops while installing.
@dgoosens @heiglandreas @IfThisThenDev@waxzce I don't think this is entirely true. I believe we have more than enough space, the main problem is politics. This "space" might not be in Europe, and strong connections must be formed with say, Africa, in order to set this up. However, after what happened with Russia, I...
