There's been some confusion over my argument in this week's episode, so I'll spell it out: despite its modern reputation as being an anti-Semitic dog whistle, the phrase “Christ is King” is one that makes perfect sense within both Christian and Jewish theology.

God is King, and the Messianic Son of David shares in this divine kingship. Rather than a point of disunity, this theology gives us a framework in which to make sense of Jesus's claim to Messiahship and Kingship.
