Here's the perpetual cycle we seem to be stuck in:
1. Claim a peace deal is within reach
2. Claim there is tension between Trump & Netanyahu
3. Claim Trump will blow Iran to pieces if they don't give in ---> we are here
Fox correspondent: "I asked the president what will happen if the Iranians don't sign an agreement that was put forward by American negotiators. President Trump said, 'We'll bomb the s**t out of them tomorrow night.'"
The human heart is not filled by accumulating experiences, possibilities, or temporary guarantees; it is filled when it discovers a call, when it understands that life reaches fullness only if it is given. Following Christ does not impoverish existence, but expands it. #ApostolicJourney
This is another sign of how the old categories of liberal and conservative no longer map precisely on our modern parties. Here the Democrats are more conservative as we’ve long understood the term — they’re (rightly) the Russia hawks.
The Iran War Powers Resolution that I cosponsored (opposing the war) just passed the House of Representatives.
The People’s House is sending a message: end this war.
In my latest @DEFP interview, I talk with Policy Director @BH_Friedman about his new explainer (link in the comments) on U.S. force posture in Europe and why it's time for the U.S. to stop bargaining and begin a phased withdrawal.

"The simple truth is that the U.S.-China relationship far outweighs a small island in any rational calculation of our national interests." https://t.co/sCU0wTqnk7
Trump took us to war in Iran without public support, without Congress, without a clear mission, and without a viable plan. He doesn’t know how to exit, so every week he just resorts to bluster and hopes it works out.
“The situation with Iran is untenable—yet as badly as Trump needs and wants a deal to end the impasse, his own decisions continue to sabotage the bargaining process,” write @jekavanagh and @RKelanic. What would Trump’s least bad outcome look like?

The Trump administration has largely maintained the U.S. force posture in Europe, leveraging it to bargain for defense spending pledges.
In this explainer for @defpriorities, @BH_Friedman and I argue that this approach does not serve U.S. interests.

lol. Calling anyone who disagrees with your foreign policy preferences “antisemitic” is obscene, defamatory and counterproductive. Pro-Israel billionaires funded the campaign. Their political hit men said why thy targeted Massie, and now all of them, including Israeli papers are gloating about it. But no one else is allowed to say it? “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
Sen. Mitch McConnell hammers acting AG Blanche over DOJ's anti-weaponization "slush fund."
“So the nation’s top law enforcement official is asking for a slush fund to pay people who assault cops? Utterly stupid, morally wrong – Take your pick,” McConnell says in statement.
There's been some confusion over my argument in this week's episode, so I'll spell it out: despite its modern reputation as being an anti-Semitic dog whistle, the phrase “Christ is King” is one that makes perfect sense within both Christian and Jewish theology.
God is King, and the Messianic Son of David shares in this divine kingship. Rather than a point of disunity, this theology gives us a framework in which to make sense of Jesus's claim to Messiahship and Kingship.

Breaking News: House Republicans abruptly canceled a vote on a resolution directing President Trump to withdraw U.S. forces from Iran or win approval from Congress to continue the war, after it became clear they lacked the votes to defeat the measure. https://t.co/2YCMl8GIbj
