Every BCG X product starts somewhere. For Andy Lin, it started with a toolbox and a belief that knowing how to fix things matters.

The same logic applies when critical equipment is on the line. That's why Field Service & Maintenance AI by BCG X uses agentic AI to take on routine tasks like dispatch, invoicing, and inventory management — giving operations managers the space to focus on complex tasks and performance management.

Future-built companies are already engineering AI value.

BCG’s 2026 Applied AI Index breaks down what separates these companies into a formula with three core elements: strategic clarity plus applied AI can translate AI ambition into transformative impact.

These future-built companies scale five times as many AI workflows to full value creation as laggards do.

BCG’s 2026 Applied AI Index has found that 42% of companies expect their agents to act autonomously by 2030. However, just 5% of companies have the relevant agent controls in place.

Recent events have shown that scaling agentic AI workflows bears a risk.

What does it take to move AI from experimentation to real impact at scale?

Heidelberg Materials CEO Dr Dominik von Achten argues for starting with the core of the business, identifying opportunities across the value chain, building what works, and thinking about scale from the beginning.

Almost half of companies now generate measurable value from AI, although the biggest share still comes from a small group of top performers.

BCG’s 2026 Applied AI Index finds that agentic AI rewards these top performers who follow a clear playbook: strategic clarity plus applied AI can translate AI ambition into transformative impact.

• Strategic clarity is about getting the big choices right to strengthen competitive advantage.
• Applied AI means embedding AI into day-to-day operations.
• Transformative impact is the enterprise value created when those elements come together.

CEOs in Asia-Pacific are optimistic about AI’s potential for a positive return on investment.

BCG’s new Applied AI Index 2026, based on a survey of more than 1,300 CxOs and senior executives across 20-plus sectors, shows that the most AI-mature companies (those who are “future-built”) show exceptional strategic clarity. That means they get the big choices right to strengthen competitive advantage.

When strategic clarity meets applied AI, companies can unlock five times the value from AI compared to those who lack clarity and capabilities.

Companies need to build their capabilities across three pillars. Read the Applied AI Index 2026 to learn how: https://t.co/NeTfJjdSEI

You're not hallucinating if your AI governance feels like it's built for a world that no longer exists.

Many governance programs were designed for two or three centrally managed pilots, not the exponential scale of agentic AI deployment today.

In the latest episode of You’re Not Hallucinating Steve Mills, BCG’s Chief AI Ethics Officer, explains how to deploy risk management that matches CEOs’ AI ambitions.

CEOs need to set the tone, engage personally, and show the organization that AI matters.

When Heidelberg Materials CEO Dr Dominik von Achten launched a personal "CEO AI Hour," it wasn't a signaling exercise but leadership by example.

In conversation with BCG CEO Christoph Schweizer, von Achten shares how he interacts directly with employees at his company who have already built something with AI and then works to scale what they've done.

There is limited room for data center expansion on earth. Is space the solution?

BCG analysis has found that space-based data centers could become technically feasible at scale within the next decade. However, there is likely to be a cost premium.

Here are six technical constraints to overcome. https://t.co/nVziJO9rwt

The biggest AI skill isn't technical. It's curiosity.

When AI began transforming industries, Reckitt CEO Kris Licht didn't start with a technology roadmap. He took his leadership team to San Francisco for a week to immerse themselves in the technology, explore its potential, and ask better questions.

That mindset resonates deeply at BCG.

In a world where AI is evolving every day, staying curious, experimenting, and continuously learning are becoming some of the most valuable skills you can bring to your career.

Watch this conversation between Christoph Schweizer and Kris Licht to hear why curiosity is shaping the future of leadership and why it's just as important as technical expertise. https://t.co/GspvI5X5mZ

The biggest AI skill isn't technical. It's curiosity.

In a conversation between Reckitt CEO Kris Licht and BCG CEO Christoph Schweizer, one theme stood out: the companies seeing the most progress with AI have leaders who stay curious and persevere through setbacks.

For Reckitt, adopting AI has been as much a change management journey as a technological one. It has reinforced the importance of creating space for learning, embracing experimentation, and developing the next generation of talent with both technical capabilities and human insight.

AI agents can help asset managers drive revenue, reduce risk, and fundamentally rethink how work gets done.

Yet the average asset manager trails behind banks and fintechs on AI maturity. And most have not moved beyond pilots.

The AI “honeymoon” is ending for many organizations right now.

Early on, novelty drove momentum. Employees enjoyed the cognitive stretch, the new capabilities, the sense of possibility. Adoption climbed, and satisfaction scores looked good.

But BCG's fourth annual AI at Work survey shows that as the novelty fades, employee joy usually drops unless something else takes over.

That something is strategic clarity.

Employees who receive clear direction on where AI is taking the organization and what to do with the time it frees up consistently outperform those with greater access to AI tools but no direction.

These aren't projections. They're what CMOs are already seeing when AI is deployed across the full marketing function, not just in isolated tools.

Skills that leaders identify as key to long-term organizational performance—judgment, problem understanding, creative thinking, and more—are the ones that they consider most at risk due to AI.

When this skill attrition occurs across thousands of people simultaneously, the business's collective intelligence quietly degrades. This is “distributed de-skilling”—a collective erosion of human skills that undermines organizational intelligence and resilience over time.

Here are six strategies to mitigate de-skilling risk: https://t.co/ADLpHWXBQQ
