The @BCHSLacrosse family is mourning the loss of our beloved Asst. Coach, Rick Gilbert.

Coach Gilbert served as a volunteer assistant on our staff for the 2023 & 2024 seasons. We’ll be forever grateful that he chose to be a part of our lacrosse program for the past 2 years.

The team was often reminded that having him on our staff was comparable to having Tim Tebow be your football coach. He was one of the greatest college lacrosse players of all-time. We are beyond thankful for the impact that he made on our players - on and off the field.

Coach Gilbert lived and breathed the sport of lacrosse. He played lacrosse for decades, and was always proud to rattle off his stats from any particular game dating back to the early 70’s. Coach’s wishes were to have his ashes spread on the lacrosse field at Hobart College.

Indigenous lacrosse players talk about the lessons and values that are a part of the Medicine Game and the stick. One of those is respect and caring for all aspects of the natural world. This applies to the life within the stick itself.
