Carney ES Students had the privilege of meeting with Former Cougar Alum and Current BCPS SMOB, Ms. Kayla Drummond.
She offered her advice on being an impactful leader to our current House Ambassadors! It was great to welcome her back to Carney!

Happy Lunar New Year! Here's a fun puzzle to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. I try to design puzzles that can be solved using a progression of strategies – from guessing & checking, to using algebraic equations, to 100% reasoning & mental math. Enjoy! @meverist
Happy Friday! Here's a fun puzzle for this penultimate day of 2022. How do you tend to approach problems like this? Algebraic equations? Guess & check? Reasoning & mental math? Despair? We don't want the latter! Enjoy!
Tips when working w escalated kids:
1. Hear what they say not how they say it.
2. Don’t take personally what they do & say.
3. Feel sad for instead of getting mad at them.
4. Changing behaviors is a roller coaster ride.
5. 2nd to last word is best.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day - In honor of MLK Day we have 6 activities that you can use in your classroom to be reminded of his contributions to our awareness. The day is often celebrated with service to your community. https://t.co/ILRBRnPowK #iteachmath#mtbos#math
2, 4, 6, 8, this is how we annotate! No matter what skill we're working on, Good Readers annotate! Annotating the text is a way that every student can access learning.
As you work to foster a school-wide math culture, this classroom door might offer some inspiration!
